24/ πŸ› Fix: Port Tester help link The port forwarding help link in the Port Tester now fits inside its box, using a shorter address (https://diginode.tools/port-forwarding/), and a typo above it is fixed.

22/ πŸ› Fix: Correct command for installing system updates The reminder to install system updates now tells you to run 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade'. Running only 'sudo apt-get upgrade' could fail with "404 Not Found" errors if the list of available updates was out of date.

23/ πŸ› Fix: UPnP can be turned on again Turning UPnP on from the #DigiNode Setup menu did nothing if it had been turned off before: #DigiByte Core restarted, but UPnP stayed off. Thanks to ZuneTracks for reporting it.

20/ πŸ› οΈ Improvement: DigiFacts in the Dashboard only DigiFacts are now only shown inside #DigiNode Dashboard, and no longer when DigiNode Setup finishes or when you quit the Dashboard.

21/ πŸ› οΈ Improvement: Tidier setup screens #DigiNode Setup's screens no longer talk about the DigiAsset Node, which can't currently be installed, and the notice about it is no longer shown when you first install. The Tor menu for a Dual Node now also fits in a normal-sized terminal window.

18/ If one of them ever changes, it can be updated there, and your #DigiNode follows straight away, without upgrading. The sponsor link now goes to diginode.tools/sponsor, which shows all the ways to support DigiNode Tools.

19/ πŸ› οΈ Improvement: Support #DigiNode Tools When you quit DigiNode Dashboard, it now always shows how to sponsor DigiNode Tools or donate DGB. Previously this was only shown some of the time.

16/ πŸ› οΈ Improvement: Calmer DigiFacts updates DigiFacts now come from the new DigiFacts website. If they can't be updated (for example if you're offline), #DigiNode Dashboard keeps showing the saved DigiFacts and tries again an hour later, instead of showing an error every time it starts.

17/ πŸ› οΈ Improvement: Links that stay up to date Links in #DigiNode Tools to places outside the DigiNode Tools website, such as the Telegram group and Bluesky, now go through go.diginode.tools.

14/ πŸ› οΈ Improvement: No restart needed after an uninstall After an uninstall, #DigiNode Setup no longer tells you to restart your system, which wasn't needed.

15/ If the 'diginode' commands were removed, it now tells you to log out and back in instead, since the current terminal still remembers them.

10/ πŸ› οΈ Improvement: Commands work straight away The 'diginode' and 'diginode-setup' commands, and #DigiByte Core's commands such as 'digibyte-cli', now work straight away after a new install - you no longer need to log out or restart first.

11/ They are now installed as commands in /usr/local/bin, instead of aliases in your .bashrc file, so they also work with sudo and in scripts, and they stop working straight away when you uninstall. Existing DigiNodes are switched over automatically the next time you run #DigiNode Setup.

8/ ✨ New: Restart reminders If your #DigiNode needs a restart to finish installing system updates, you are now told when DigiNode Setup finishes, when you close DigiNode Dashboard, and when you log in (if you use the DigiNode MOTD).

6/ If it is busy, it tries again every 30 minutes for the next two hours, and otherwise the next night. Your #DigiByte node is shut down safely and starts again automatically.

7/ You are asked whether you want this when you install - on a Raspberry Pi the suggested answer is Yes, and on other machines (such as a VPS) it is No.

4/ ✨ New: Automatic restarts when needed Your #DigiNode can now restart itself automatically when an update needs a restart to finish, such as a new Linux kernel.

5/ It only restarts when needed, at 04:00 (you can change the time from the System menu), and never while it is busy - for example while #DigiNode Setup is running or software is being installed.

2/ ✨ New: Automatic system updates #DigiNode Setup can now install operating system updates for you automatically, once a day in the background (Debian, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi OS). You are asked once: security and stability updates (recommended), all updates, or off.

3/ You can change this at any time from the new System option in the #DigiNode Setup main menu. For an unattended install, set UI_SYSTEM_AUTO_UPDATES and UI_SYSTEM_AUTO_REBOOT in diginode.settings.

6/ πŸ“Š A better Dashboard DigiNode Dashboard no longer looks frozen while your node is busy syncing - it shows a spinner and lets you know it's busy. And you can now press N to hide your IP addresses before sharing a screenshot, like this one πŸ‘‡

7/ πŸ›‘οΈ More secure and reliable - digibyte.conf, which holds your RPC password, can now only be read by your DigiNode user - Nodes that fail to start after an update are restarted and checked - Software DigiNode Tools doesn't use is no longer installed

4/ πŸ§ͺ Ready for DigiByte v9 DigiByte Core v9 comes with a brand new testnet, and DigiNode Tools fully supports it. When you upgrade, it offers to clear out the old v8 testnet data to free up space. Your wallets are always kept.

5/ πŸ”„ Easy resync The new Blockchain option lets you delete the blockchain data for mainnet or testnet, to resync a stuck or corrupted node, or to free up space. Your node is stopped, cleared and restarted for you. Your wallets are never touched.

2/ πŸ”’ Safer DigiByte Core upgrades Every DigiByte Core release is now verified automatically before your DigiNode will install it. Its hash must match the one GitHub recorded when it was uploaded, and the release's own checksums. New releases then roll out gradually over about two weeks.

3/ πŸ”’ Install any version of DigiByte Core Choose Version in the DigiNode Setup menu to upgrade or downgrade to any verified release, all the way back to v7.17.2. Handy for testing, or if a new release causes you problems.

1/ πŸ“£ DigiNode Tools v0.11.1 is live! Here's what's new: DigiNode Dashboard now has a brand new #DigiByte port tester built for DigiNode Tools that can test both regular and Tor nodes. The port tester is also available for anyone to use at the link below.

4/ The DigiByte mempool stats will automatically hide if no transactions are seen for 30 seconds (useful for testnet mempool) and you have the option to disable this feature in diginode.settings if you want.

2/ The new DigiByte port tester is tightly integrated into the DigiNode Dashboard so that with the tap of a key you can instantly check that your DigiByte mainnet and/or testnet nodes are visible to the rest of the network.

3/ Also new! DigiNode Dashboard now displays mempool stats - watch in real time as transactions get added to the mempool! The Dashboard also shows the number incoming and outgoing connections of the peers you are connected to. Shout out to Patrick Starfish who suggested both these features!
