We have released a new version of @iroh.computer. Nothing major in terms of features, but we did manage to significantly reduce the binary size. So now my entire embedded device zoo is running on iroh from crates.io. No more patch needed. www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-1-...

Please be careful if any of your CI jobs ran during this period, or if you did a build yourself. Consider the machines and any credentials on it compromised. A simple check is to look for the malicious crates in ~/.cargo/registry/src/, but that is not comprehensive and depends on your setup.

The compromised crate depended on a fake proc-macro1 crate from a typosquatted maintainer. proc-macro1 in turn had a malicious build.rs file which downloaded an unknown payload. That payload remains running afterwards, and connects to 23.254.165.112. More is not yet known about it.

thank you @rklaehn.bsky.social for writing up a fun story about our last 4 years 🚀
If you are interested in the history of the various decisions that went into @iroh.computer 1.0, I have written a blog post about the road to iroh 1.0. There were a lot of twists and turns... www.iroh.computer/blog/the-roa...
iroh on embedded, making connections to where you need them to go 🎉🎉
Bring back some chill, using @iroh.computer. I wrote an end-to-end example showing how to use iroh on an esp32 to read temperatures and control a fan. Including a WASM gui, an irpc protocol, temperature sensor, fan controller, and wiring instructions. www.iroh.computer/blog/an-iroh...
🚀 Sometimes it is just a bit boring, but you still get excited, our first patch release for @iroh.computer is here: www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-1-...

IT IS DONE !!!!!!!!!1 IT HAS HAPPENeD!!!!!!11111 THANK YOU EVERYONE, LETS GOOO ❤️❤️❤️🚀
We just released the first stable version of iroh, v1.0! Read about it: www.iroh.computer/blog/v1 We're super proud of where we landed with iroh's 1.0. Since version 0.35 it feels like we've entirely replaced the "engine underneath". Are you a fellow key-dialer? Come tell us how you use iroh!
🚀 And another, but (hopefully) the last one! @iroh.computer 1.0.0-rc.1 is out now. Better hole punching for everyone. Now is the time to test and upgrade! www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-1-...

Post-quantum security has been a frequently-asked question for as long as iroh exists. We're happy to report iroh can do PQC now! Read about it and all the nuance: www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-po... #rust
🎉 The first RC of @iroh.computer 1.0 is here, we made it! Yes it is real, after more than 50 releases, it is time for iroh@1.0.0-rc.0 Thank you everyone for making this a reality! www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-1-...
And here it is, iroh@0.98! Much better nat traversal, pluggable crypto backends and so much more, check it out now www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-0-...
look we can go smaller and smaller with @iroh.computer
This took a bit longer. Here is the blog post about how to get @iroh.computer to work on an esp32: www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-on... It requires some patches to main, but we have made progress making the patch smaller. If you want to try it out, here is the repo: github.com/n0-computer/...
A new release, YES @iroh.computer 0.97.0 is here! 🚀 Now with pluggable transports, cleaner `Endpoint::bind` and our quic implementation finally having a name: `noq` www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-0-...

Got @iroh.computer to work on the smallest device yet. An ESP32 with 4MB of application memory and 4MB of heap. This is a horribly patched version, but nothing drastic, just reducing deps.
Finally getting around to improving the state of media libs in rust. The first one is github.com/dignifiedqui... a port of the webrtc audio processing code, giving you modern noise and echo cancellation

My main branch now has holepunching implemented *inside* the QUIC stack. We've implemented the QUIC multipath draft to keep track of all the paths inside the QUIC networking stack. CI is green and we've already punched a lots of firewalls in the real world! #rustlang github.com/n0-computer/...

This post was super inspiring! Just updated the homepage to call out some of our current use in real stuff. We have the usage, but it's not easy. As for being rough on the edges, I would love to hear *any* feedback on where we can improve. Hoping to contribute to a more viable P2P LoFi world.

It's been a while, but I've gotten 0.35 versions old yesterday! Really getting close to becoming an adult 1.0 #rust library, in fact - the next release will be my release candidate. This release contains metrics collection improvements and some small API tweaks ✌️ www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-0-...
