(it's also VERY FUNNY to me that this lady is talking about "liberals this and liberals that" while unironically reposted The Serfs TV)

trans people can actually disagree with each other and doing so isn't rooted in transphobia. the idea that we have to be in lock step to "protect the community" or what the fuck ever is toxic as fuck.

that said, this Dani person appears to be only hounding trans people who disagree with her, which is honestly really fucking weird.

I DO!! I commissioned them from @poorlycatdraw.bsky.social and got my regular artist to tattoo them on my forearms. Of my (many) tattoos, I get compliments on these ones the most.

Kat Abughazaleh@katmabu.bsky.social

Does anyone have their pet tattooed on them? I’m thinking of getting Heater and Dragon tattoos on myself but idk what type of style I’d want.

hey for the record unsolicited photos of your genitals is assault, not "sexual advances."

So hard to pick a favorite part of this article. Pretending that sending unsolicited dick pics at 53 was a “youthful indiscretion” is good, but don’t sleep on the argument that his wife forgave him for subjecting other women to unwanted nude photos so everyone else should too

Yesterday, one of the things Jake Lang was yelling when he was "protesting" the Hasan Piker event was "Ilhan Omar likes it up the butt." Poor man does not know the wonders of the prostate.

lmao right-wing oppo is like, "can you believe that these democrats fuck??!?!?"

No one tells you have fucking angry you'll be when you get diagnosed as autistic and realize just how ableist everything in the world is.

Unemployment has run out, and we have yet to get another TV job (though we've come close!). We have savings, but if my work means anything to you, I would really, really, really appreciate you becoming a subscriber. And now you can make me watch your favorite crap!

Not an Episodes subscriber yet? No time like the present — especially since new subscribers, from now until November 1, can force our editor-in-chief @emilystjams.bsky.social to watch, quote, "some bullshit." Details here!

thinking about how yesterday i was saying "so i was eating skittles, dividing them up by color like you do" and received a blank look and I just paused and went "oh."

someone is, of course, taking me talking about my own feelings and reactions about something that happened three years ago to paint me as saying masculine presenting people should never be in the women's restroom bluesky has the most rancid fucking juice

I want to talk a little bit about fear, considering it's something I wrote a book about. One thing I heard about in the lead up to this event was about fear - that people are afraid of what Hasan being here meant, that they're afraid of his "rhetoric," and that we should respect that fear.

And I think Minnesota's response to ICE demonstrates that if we make decisions based on fear and not on what's right, we cede important moral ground. I am afraid every day that my rights are going to be taken from me. But I do not let that rule me.

Fear causes relationships to break down. Fear causes us to be suspicious of our fellow human and assume bad intent. Fear is bad fucking politics.

So all that to say: I get being afraid that doing a (small - maybe 200 people) event with Hasan Piker will result in centrist Dems being worried about the state of the party. I also get the fear of those Jewish people who have only heard about the alleged antisemitism.

But at the end of the day, I think it is wrong of us to allow ourselves to be ruled by fear and not make a conscious effort to respond with curiosity. Any time I'm told "someone say something wild!" I go, "okay, what's the context?" because trusting that fear reaction just raises my blood pressure.

I think a lot of politics, *especially* amongst centrist Dems, is based in fear. It's different types of fear depending on who you ask, but there's a lot of it going around - fear of losing power, fear of going too far left that you lose elections, fear of things changing and being uncertain...

...and there's a primal fear in those who have always been in the position of the oppressor that the oppressed will treat them the same way they've been treating the oppressed. That's the fear of the tyrant.

And there was a kid in there, maybe 5 or 6, who did not stop staring at me. Her face was confused and a little afraid, because to her, I was a man in the wrong place. That made *me* uncomfortable because the last thing I want to do is making a child feel afraid.

I fully respect that primal emotion that people feel upon seeing me - a person they perceive as a man - in the "wrong" space. I sometimes find it a little amusing. But I've also had to square that with my own very real fear of being confronted about it with violence.

I was still getting used to my new chest, and was in LAX for a red eye flight back to Minneapolis. I used the women's restroom, and was washing my hands. A woman walked in, saw me, and stepped back outside to check that she'd entered the right room. She was scared of me.

The thing that made me finally switch to using the men's room - which I was afraid to do!!! - was another airport time. My friend's car had died while parked at the airport, so I came over and helped him jump it. While we were working on that, I went inside to pee. Again, used the women's room.

But I've also learned that when I am acting out of fear, I am not my best self. I am not guided by my moral compass - I'm guided by terror and trying to make whatever is scaring me stop. Fear is, at base, irrational.

I think it is importance to wrestle with the complexity of a person's fear. I remember when I realized I was passing as a man and how that changed my relationship to the cis women around me. Two months after top surgery, I was in LA for a book promotion thing.

I'm intimately familiar with fear - not just because I had an anxiety disorder for nearly two decades, but with the fear of my rights being taken from me, and the fear other people have of me and my friends existing in their spaces as trans people.

I am just learning this right now

Samantha Brennan@samanthabrennan.bsky.social

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

“The candidates that do support ICE are the ones who are constantly condemning me. …I think a lot of them are just hoping that this problem (of ICE) goes away but it won’t.”

“If you are a Democrat, and you have ambitions for higher office, you have to stand with the people and pledge to abolish this rogue agency.”

I’m at the Hasan Piker event. Jake Lang showed up outside in his bullet proof vest that doesn’t fit and started yelling about Abdul El-Sayed.

As a graduate of a Jesuit prep school, "using that background selectively while ignoring the moral responsibilities that came with it" is SUCH a Jesuit thing to say; an appeal to a better self and a bit of a bitchslap at the same time

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.
