Build modern housing. Build modern infrastructure. Build modern democracy. More power generation is ok, but efficiency is the game-changer. Yes it can be done in Canada.

So-called “inclusionary zoning,” the practice of requiring home builders to rent new apartments at a loss to low-income tenants, is a tax on new housing that worsens the housing shortage and raises rents overall in exchange for a handful of means-tested units. It’s bad policy!

thecooldown.comGreater Boston builders say affordable-unit rules stall housing, but Boston won't budgeDevelopers and city leaders across Greater Boston are clashing over whether affordable-housing requirements are helping address the region's housing shortage.

This is huge. In particular the opening of data centres connected to Europe through fibre optic cables. Good for Canafian electricity sales as well as great for the planet.

Because of Trump’s tariffs, stainless steel costs 40% more than it did a year ago, but that seems like a feature, not a bug, in this market. A designer says this only adds to its allure. “It used to be economical. When things are harder to acquire, it becomes more exciting for people to use.”

There are farmers in the many other countries with high speed rail. The difference is that they don't hate the city folk instinctively like rural North Americans do.

I can certainly understand how some landowners might be anxious. An observation - there is a lot of complaining about the noise and damage to the land, from the same people who rip around on quads and snowmobiles all year long.

Canada should pursue an autopact with the EU and change auto standards to align with EU standards. US automakers are no longer partners in any way. Joining the EU is unnecessary and Canada's federation is not a good fit. But side agreements can work, like an autopact.

Canada already meets 77% of EU accession criteria. If you’re looking for like minds to be strategic partners, Europe is a far better choice than the US.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford: “President Trump can't be trusted. Simple as that. He changes the deal. He keeps moving the goalpost. “President Trump is the type of person that would steal your lunch money the first day… He is not to be trusted whatsoever.”

With an influencer-style leader, the CPC has managed to undo one of Mr. Harper’s goals: to end the LPC at least as the Natural Governing Party if not end it as a party altogether. The LPC was saved by Mr. Levant, not Mr. Trudeau. 10/

There are 23.5 million 18-49 year olds in the U.K. and 22 million over 50s. Less than 50% of 18-49 year olds have been turning out to vote whereas 75% of over 50s generally do. This is why the country looks how it does. We need to get young people voting.

Jun 28, 1886: the Canadian Pacific Railway begins regular passenger service between Montreal, Toronto and Port Moody, BC. Unlike the huge celebration in Montreal, there were no recorded festivities in Toronto marking this historic occasion. 1/3

That's how we should raise money for the rebuild of Sussex.

🇨🇦 For Canadians, only: 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 As an austerity measure, Canada should sell off STORNOWAY, which since 1950 has been the staffed 10000 sq ft residence of the leader of the Official Opposition No other western democracy owns a home for the opposition leader's use. www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...

This will increase food supply through more stores and reduce prices from competition and supply. Our locally picked produce will be ripe, healthy, and have longer shelf life in our homes. This will reduce the environmental footprint of long distance food imports. www.canada.ca/en/natural-r...

The UK should have electoral reform so that you can't win a majority with do little of the vote. He was always going to have to govern uphill. First past the post hurts democracy.

Not a perfect apples-to-apples comparison, but... Carney has never been underwater on positive/negative sentiment according to Abacus. Meanwhile, Starmer *started* underwater on YouGov's job rating as prime minister.

We live in the Age of Disinformation.

If Trump stuck two french fries in his nose and said he's going to tell Westeros to invade Narnia, Fox would devote 10 hours a day to the Narnian threat and the New York Times would run articles headlined "President Considers Expanding Conflict Zone; Critics Raise Questions"
