I didn’t want to do this, but I’m down to $237 with no savings. After 2 years searching for stable work while helping my parents through health challenges, I need help. Donations, shares or job leads mean so much 🫶🏼 gofund.me/da17e5df5 linktr.ee/chicajas

🎂 Happy Birthday to me! 🥳💜 Thank y’all for being part of my journey .It truly means more than you know. ❤️ Now excuse me while I go collect all my birthday freebies. 😂☕️ If you wanna buy the birthday girl a coffee ☕️ or a little birthday gift 🎁👀… I won’t stop you. 🤣 linktr.ee/chicajas

Y’all, after my mom wasn’t feeling well last night, I still took the GIAC exam today… and I PASSED. 🙏🎉 Thank you, God. Now it’s time for Claude Bootcamp. I barely made it, but I won’t be hard on myself. There were a lot of things outside my control, and I kept going anyway. 💪

Now that the episode has premiered, I can finally share where KrewsAgent began. 💡 Max and I pitched the idea on @codetv.dev , and I later built the MVP, which went on to receive the “Build It for Yourself” Special Judges Award at the Tetrate Buildathon. 🏆 tetrate.ai/buildathon/w...

Happy #tacotuesday everyone 🤗🌮 side quest for this year was being part of a tv show check it out 🧚🏻💕

Should I give up on tech? By August, it’ll be 2 years of job searching after spending 3 years working in the industry. The market has been brutal. For those who’ve been through something similar: when do you keep fighting, and when do you pivot?

Published my nanochat SFT checkpoint (d24, step 483) — weights, tokenizer, and the full story on the model card: huggingface.co/chicajas/nan... Trained on Nebius GPUs; ran the chat UI locally. (Yes, I learned about copying weights before killing the VM the hard way.)

Finished my fellowship assignments and ended the night with some coloring 🎨✨ Hello Kitty healing era.

Read a great ML paper today and rethought how models are designed 🤖 ML starts with assumptions, not just data. Ensemble methods combine models for better results 🍲 I made a simple diagram to show it with help from ChatGPT 👇 #MachineLearning #AI

I’ll admit I had dark thoughts and was close to acting on them yesterday .To those saying “go to therapy,” please don’t. Therapy is a privilege without insurance. Between politics, the job hunt, and everything else, it’s been crushing my mental health.

Before my layoff at HPE,this is the kind of storage advisor work my team and I built as PM. We created advisors across storage product line. I rebuilt a version from scratch to show the type of problems I worked on as a PM. UI tweaks pending. #tech

Tech conferences are coming to ATL in 2025! From AI to DevSecOps, there’s something for everyone. If you’re looking for more events, check out dev.events.

Finished the Gen AI bootcamp homework! Used multiple LLMs, but for Spanish, I only did Meta & ChatGPT because Claude hit me with the paywall 💸😂

One interview down! 😅 Almost forgot my next one is next week, not tomorrow. This one went well—fingers crossed for the next round! Back to my studies 🤞☺️ #JobHunt #Interview

Yesterday I created a Spanish/English diagram for the GenAI bootcamp. Submitting today or Friday—depending on how it goes. #GenAI #LanguageLearning

Does anyone know if the @Okta Professional exam requires you to have your own sandbox for the hands-on portion, or is one provided?

Had to visually break down what we went through live yesterday for the Gen AI Bootcamp at a high level, but I got it now! Now I can tackle it throughout next week. Been trying to stay focused on my studies. 📚💡 #GenAI #Bootcamp #Learning.

It’s Black History Month! No matter what the Cheeto says about rolling back DEI or erasing history, we won’t forget. This is a time to honor the rich heritage, achievements, and contributions of African Americans! 💕#BlackHistoryMonth2025

Trying something different in my job hunt—using my last name with just my first initial on LinkedIn. It’s wild that in 2025, I have to consider whether my name alone could lead to assumptions about my legal status. Gonna see if this changes anything. #JobSearch

my github :) not sure if i will change it later on ..

Worked hard to submit talks and collaborate for WiCySorg 2025 and applied for the scholarship too—only to face rejection and a spot on the waitlist. It’s tough not to question myself, especially during unemployment, when it feels like I don’t belong in these spaces.

Today marks 4 months since being laid off. Even though I’m not feeling like celebrating my wins, I know it’s important to share: • Earned AI en Acción cert • Made Tier 3 WiCyS Scholarship (3rd try!) • Submitted a RenderATL talk proposal

This is my second time or third time trying for the Women in CyberSecurity scholarship, and I made it to Tier 3 this time! 😭 I can’t believe it! I’m super grateful, especially since my confidence has been low lately after my layoff..

My first public video 🙈! After participating in #CommitYourCode, I’ve gained a bit more confidence. It’s been a tough time since my layoff, but I’ve decided to start creating content to share the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the past 3 years in tech.

Just completed the AWS Cloud Quest: Recertify Cloud Practitioner! It extended the validation of my AWS CP certification for 3 years. 🎉 Those labs were amazing! Now, I need to recertify my Anaplan certification. Time to sleep. 😴

One thing I started doing at conferences, beginning with #KubeCon is passing out ducks! 🐥 It’s a nod to how I got started in tech—it reminds me of the early days of debugging with a rubber duck ☺️. I continued the tradition at #CommitYourCode, and now I’m the Duck Girl lol 😆.

Fun fact: I started my tech journey with Ruby on Rails, thanks to someone teaching me. However, my old computer couldn’t handle Ruby 😅, so I shifted to @freecodecamp.bsky.social (JS), then #100Devs,& later resilient coders. The journey has been wild but so worth it! 🚀 My old setup to now 🥹

Thank you, @dthompsondev.bsky.social , for making #CommitYourCode happen in just 3 months! Shoutout to the crew & volunteers—y’all are amazing. 🐤 Loved the 🔥 talks, debugging ducks, go-karting, Hard 8 BBQ, & even a post-CYC parade! Till next time—maybe I’ll submit a talk. 🙌

Got this scam email, and at first, I was so excited. Then I realized it was fake… honestly, so frustrating 😭. I’m out here trying to get a job to pay bills, and y’all wasting my time like this?! 💔

Feeling disheartened about the job market. Some moments I’m optimistic that I’ll find something, while other moments, I’m down in the dumps. It’s tough, but I’m trying to keep pushing forward. One step at a time. 💙

Just got my certification for the AWS New Voices Community Speaker Training! 🎤✨ One of the requirements was to give a talk, and I shared my fellowship project with my cohort—such an empowering experience. 🚀💻
