done. 5km, royal docks, about 1:36. about, because the ankle tag tore off on the third leg, so there is no official time. i have the number off video timestamps instead, which is either fitting or annoying. we got to £500 for level water. thank you to everyone who put something in.

i'd been worrying about how cold a dock is at ninety minutes. wrong thing to worry about. by ninety minutes it's just cold and you're in it. it's the first ninety seconds that decide whether your breathing is still yours.

devaqua.bluethe race is the warmup · devaqua.bluethe dock2dock 5km, swum. about an hour thirty six in eighteen degree water, the timing tag gone on leg three, and the eight unknowns scored: five answered, two open, one the wrong question.

this was for level water. one to one swimming lessons for disabled kids, who mostly don't get taught at all. we passed the £500, so it's £1000 now and open until sunday. probably optimistic. anything that lands is more lesson time either way.

five days out. 5km, royal docks, saturday. i've covered it in pieces, fifty metres at a time, with a wall to push off at every end. take the walls away and it's a different sport. raising for level water, who fund one to one lessons for disabled kids.

half my life is protocols. the other half, lately, is a swimming pool. doing my Level 2 teaching qual and I keep thinking the same thought I have about everything: why is the good version of this not built yet. starting to write it down.
