A client once told me about a .NET Worker Service that had worked without trouble for months. It read messages from a queue, applied business logic, and updated a database. The code did what it was supposed to do, so nobody had much reason to question it. devandreacarratta.it/en/technical...

devandreacarratta.it.NET Worker Service: the code was right, the place was wrongA .NET Worker Service stopped processing for 60 hours. My own batch jobs faced a similar problem. Here is why correct code still needs the right infrastructure.

There was one detail we had overlooked: the service ran on a personal computer. When that computer was switched off on an ordinary Friday, message processing stopped with it. By Monday, around 60 hours of work had accumulated. The code hadn’t failed; its hosting environment had.

I took notes on paper during a client call. Later I tried to read them but it was hard. So I took a photo and sent it to Claude. It understood the context and fixed everything. Not magic, just less friction. Did you ever try this with AI?

Full remote from a small town in the Italian Alps. No office, no commute. Just me, my computer and the mountains outside. Are you remote too? 👇 #remote #freelance #developer

I did not like Docker at the start. Too complex. Now I use it every day without thinking. This is how I changed my mind. What tool changed your mind? 👇 #docker #devops #cloud

I started with Visual Studio on Windows. Then JetBrains on Mac. Now JetBrains on Linux every day. Each move made me a better developer. What is your daily IDE? 👇 #jetbrains #rider #dotnet

Working full remote means I can work from anywhere. I opened my laptop from three different countries this year. Best meetings I ever had. Where did you work from? 👇 #remote #travel #freelance

We are spending our last hours in Japan. Like last time, it was an amazing experience (and amazing food too). Thanks for everything, Japan. See you soon! But… our trip has one more destination before going home.

My Ubuntu crashed after a system upgrade. Home directory gone. Everything lost. I rebuilt my full dev environment from zero with Fedora. It was painful but useful. Has this ever happened to you? 👇 #linux #developer

Kyoto 06:30 AM - I was walking to the hotel after my running session. I opened my email and I read “🙌 Welcome back, AWS Community Builder!” My voice broken the silence “YEEEEEEAAAAAHHH!” and after I was speechless for a lot of minutes! Thanks #aws and #awscommunity for this opportunity!

3 years ago I was on macOS. Then Ubuntu. Then Fedora after a crash. My setup never stopped changing. And every change made me a better developer. What is your current OS? 👇 #linux #developer #devlife

I run ultramarathons. People ask me how I manage long training with a full work schedule. My answer: same as a complex project. Small steps, one at a time. What is your method? 👇 #running #ultramarathon #freelance

After a long flight, we arrived in Singapore at 6:30 am local time. Two hours later, we drank our first cappuccino. I am waiting for the night. I am very tired and I didn’t sleep much during the trip. Caffeine for me, to stay awake and not turn into code. #singapore #holiday

🔥 Asking for a developer friend (me). Leaving next week, gone for a while. Coming back to buy a Mac or a Linux laptop. 🍎 🐧 What’s your experience been? Any laptop you recommend? Would love real stories, not just specs. #linux #macos #developer

@rubyconitaly.bsky.social was not only a conference. It was an unexpected moment for me. I did a lightning talk in English. 4 minutes. It was my first experience and probably the last. I am still in shock. Have you ever done a talk in a second language? 🎤 #rubycon #lightningtalk #aws #terraform
