A bit of this, a bit of that, but most of all, let’s keep things just that little bit kinder here. Left-leaning politics. London.

I think anyone who feels that Farage or Reform UK should be denied airtime might want to think again after that car crash. #r4today

Gherkins get a bit of a tough time. I remember asking for a burger without gherkins and a Coke when I was a kid. The gherkins didn’t even get a mention. All I was met with was, “It’s McDonald’s Cola. Is that okay?” That was life in the 80s. #r4today

Richard Tice supports abolishing the two-child benefit cap while wanting to slash immigration. With birth rates falling and an ageing population, Britain may become increasingly dependent on immigration to sustain its workforce. Has he thought that through? #r4today

Richard Stupid Tice neatly summed up Reform UK’s attitude to the public: “You look at things… you discuss amongst yourselves…” Basically, everyone else’s views can be ignored. #r4today

Speaking on Times Radio, a Westminster councillor seriously suggested people visit Oxford Street not to shop, but for its iconic views of London cabs and buses! After the no-standing fiasco in Soho, how can anyone take this council seriously? They whinge like a parish council. #oxfordstreet

The Tories forget that the biggest rise in university students came under John Major. Blair was right 25 years ago: university education provided the skills Britain needed then. Times change. Ironic criticism from a party that still hasn’t moved on from Thatcher. #bbcaq

Stuart Rose seems to be suggesting that supermarkets should not be burdened in the event of a food crisis. Where exactly does he think we are going to buy these extra supplies from? Who benefits? #bbcaq

It’s surprising that the Conservative Party are so opposed to PIP, given how many of them appear to suffer from severe selective amnesia, with absolutely no recollection of anything that happened between 2010 and 2024. #PMQs #PMQ’s

Initially snubbed by Queen Elizabeth II, failed by the government and treated as an irritant by the National Coal Board. Sixty years on, let’s remember the 144 lives lost at Aberfan, the survivors and the extraordinary courage of a community that refused to be silenced. #aberfan

It’s difficult to imagine someone with so little to commend her as Alys Denby. On Times Radio this morning, she showed a complete disregard for Scottish people, had no idea about the PM’s spokesperson, then further insulted the Scots before launching into a bout of nastiness towards her panellists.

And now, straight out of the Reform UK playbook, Jenrick is getting aggressive towards the end of the interview, but Anna is having none of it. #r4today

I’m pretty certain that under the Green Party’s constitution, there has to be a leadership election every two years, which presumably means the next one is due in summer 2027. #r4today

@stellathegreek.bsky.social I heard you on LBC tonight. Firstly, I absolutely agree with your point of view about young people. You completely understand it, unlike other political commentators and parties that demonise young people. Also, you were spot on about inheritance tax.

Longer prison sentences don’t necessarily prevent crime. They keep offenders off the streets for longer, but there’s little evidence that extra years provide much additional deterrence. Sentences used to be shorter and society didn’t descend into chaos. There’s a case for shorter sentences. #CPC26

The contrast is striking. Andy Burnham stands out against the backdrop, with his body language clearly visible. Kemi Badenoch wears blue against blue and is largely hidden behind a lectern. She almost disappears into the set. Basic visual presentation, badly handled. #CPC26 #PoliticsLive

No one on You and Yours mentioned the quality of the food in Lidl and Aldi. Do people really not care about ultra-processed food? When will we understand that it’s not just about price? Surely what we’re actually putting into our bodies should matter as much as what it costs.

This guy is talking nonsense. On the one hand, he’s going to cut red tape; on the other, local authorities will still have planning approval. So the Tories remain the party of NIMBYs. #r4today

So the Reform UK criticism of Question Time goes something like this: Fiona Bruce asks Suella Braverman a difficult question. Apparently that’s unfair. Then they tell us how well Braverman answered it. Isn’t that exactly what’s supposed to happen? #BBC #QuestionTime #ReformUK

The timing of the Championship extending its play-offs to 8th place is interesting. Relegate City with a huge points deduction, give them another in the Championship, and even finishing 8th could still give them a route straight back up. It could all work out to be very convenient for City. #r4today

Where the hell does Sarah Elliott think additional advertising revenue will come from to support the BBC alongside other broadcasters? The woman is an absolute idiot. #BBCaq

Talking on Question Time, Helen Whately spoke of taxpayers funding people on benefits, giving them a lifestyle that taxpayers can only dream of. What planet is this woman on? And, no she wasn’t talking about penioners and the triple lock! #bbcqt

The Reform UK guy on LBC really isn’t very bright. And by that, I mean less intelligent than the standard we have come to expect from Reform politicians.

Kemi Badenoch: I’m going to scrap inheritance tax. Except I’m not; I’m thinking about it. But I have a plan. Andy Burnham doesn’t. I don’t have to tell you what it is because I’m not PM. If you misunderstood me, that’s your fault. I’m never wrong. #mattchorley #bbcradio5live #kemibadenoch

The racist villagers of Piddington seem to have a rather inflated view of the village: no shops, no café, no pub. Why exactly do they think it would be a place of interest for anybody to go? They may be boring fucks, but not everybody is.
