This article starts out with an absolutely horrible f***ing analogy. Yes, it's behind a paywall, but the first two paragraphs can be read without that. That is all you need. The analogy ignores the drugs, both voluntary and involuntary, that Jane Doe ingested that night. 1 of 2 #JaneDoe #Cornell

The other issue that I've seen in regard to Cornell is that under New York law, apparently, voluntarily taking drugs deprives you of your right to say no. But, what if those drugs were prescribed to you for pain, or you're taking an over the counter medication that makes you loopy? Stupid f'ing law.

#9/11 Several years after 9/11, I was on a Reservation. I was fortunate enough to be shown a petroglyph site. Unlike most petroglyph sites, this one was still being added to. The site contained petroglyphs about the moon landing and the most recent one was about 9/11, depicting the twin towers.

Bush supposedly had flown to Europe secretly to meet with someone from Iran to negotiate with them over the release of the hostages, making promises to the Iranians, that Reagan would give them a good deal if they delayed the release of the hostages until after the election. 6 of ?

Based upon my friend's reaction (Hating G. W. Bush) and his job at NSA, I wondered if my friend had access to inside information about what Bush did in 1980. This is pure speculation, but has remained in my brain ever since. 7 of 7.

During this friendly gathering around 1990, the topic of George H. W. Bush came up. This pro-Reagan person absolutely despised Bush, more than anyone I knew. One of the rumors about the '80 campaign involved Bush. 5 of ?

It wasn't until 84 or 85 that I began to hear rumors about the Reagan campaign negotiating with Iran to DELAY the release of the hostages. I was suspicious of these claims for many years. I just couldn't imagine someone doing that. 3 of ?

Then, around 90 or 91, I met up with some friends of mine. One of these friends had interned with the National Security Agency while in college and then worked for the NSA after he graduated. He was an ardent Reagan fan. 4 of ?

The hostages were released shortly after (hours after) Reagan was inaugurated. In my mind, the Carter administration had to have been doing the work to get them released, if they were released the same day Reagan was inaugurated. 2 of ?

I just had a dream in which 2 rattlesnakes, a crocodile, and some other critters came into my bedroom. One of the snakes killed and ate the mystery critter. Then both snakes went into my bathroom. Only one came out. When the crocodile tried to bite me, I was able to trick the snake into (1 of 2)

Biting the crocodile. It's fangs got stuck in the crocodile, so I was able to kill the snake while the crocodile succumbed to the poison. I woke up with adrenaline flowing through me like this happened in real life. Now, I have to take a piss. Do I have a rattlesnake waiting in my bathroom?

I'm having a rough go of it lately, and have been thinking: everyone is going through something, and you have no idea what it is, or how it's affecting them. Quote post this is if you're going through something, and maybe we'll all realize that we aren't as alone as we feel right now.

I went into Dick's Sporting Goods store today, and saw this sign. I'm calling the number at the bottom of the sign to express my support. I'd recommend shopping their and making clear you support their DEI program.

Research among chimpanzee and monkeys have observed the animals breaking nuts with rocks. This practice could also result in rocks being inadvertently broken. This could be another path toward the manufacture of stone tools. Note, that these two paths are not mutually exclusive.

As some one who has spent their entire career working in the Americas, I haven't spent much time reading the literature on why humans originally began using stone tools. This makes me wonder if the people making these arguments have ever left their offices.

In the deserts of the western US, there are many more naturally broken rocks than there are artifacts. To me, It is not surprising at all that our people may have used those at first before they learned how to make their own tools.

As an archaeologist with decades of experience, I do not see how this is a radical idea. Every time I train a new archaeologist, I spend a great deal of time teaching them how to differentiate between rocks intentionally broken by people and those broken nanturally.

My last two jobs had very toxic environments, with bullying and backstabbing rampant. In my current job, I just came back from being out several days doing fieldwork to find this note on my desk. I don't know who it's from, but it is very much appreciated.

This is a shaft straightener recorded in the Mogollon region of Arizona. The photo on the left is a plan view of the straightener with the photo on the right, a profile. What is unusual is that the opposite surface was used as a metate (I did not take a photo of the metate w/ my phone).

Do not be fooled by Oscar's smile. He is a four-legged Karen. I was out of town for a week and had to board. When I went to pick him up, they told me that they upgraded him to a suite because he was giving them major dogitude about the size of his room.
