There is so much I don’t understand about these people, but their extreme disfigurement for the dear leader is probably the hardest thing for me to get my mind around

E.W. Scripps — which owns 60 TV stations, including network affiliates — will eliminate 500+ jobs this year in favor of "‘AI-powered broadcast journalism." Dystopian moves like this —and the FCC killing the ownership cap — will end genuine, local voices in TV news. www.thewrap.com/industry-new...

This is why my eyes explode whenever someone says “we” are going to win in November. I want nothing to do with this fucking version of “we.”

I had not seen this clip where Tammy Duckworth advises Democrats to "not impeach anybody," "get back to work" and "allow" Donald Trump to "save face" and I would just like to remind the senator from IL that the federal government took 4,000 Chicagoans and murdered a 38-year-old father last fall.

Just drove back from an appointment. Sunny day in Vermont with the leaves changing color. Chicago Transit Authority on the radio. Almost felt contentment for a moment there. 🍁

This is why Extinction Rebellion called for disrupting business as usual, but you just wouldn't listen

Continuing its voyage into uncharted waters, the latest preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.08°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. Models expect the Nino 3.4 anomaly to continue rising into at least mid-November. Then there will be dragons.

It's amazing to watch as previously normal people, coworkers, catch AI fever and turn into elbow-throwing, break-shit-fix-it-later assholes. It's like half the white collar population was just waiting for an excuse to do awful work and then demand praise for it

Around noon that day I was on the road in northern MN when a crop-duster plane flew right overhead (airspace was already closed) and my cheeks instinctively tightened

I propose FedEx Field in the east and Oakland Coliseum in the west to house ICE criminals while they await trial and sentencing. Nothing but the worst open-air experience for them.

NEW: Evidence filed in a Colorado case reveals how ICE officers are arresting people without a warrant, which is illegal unless ICE determines the person is a flight risk. A man was dragged from his car after ICE showed him a warrant for someone else and refused to check his ID to see his identity.

I’ve had two eye surgeries this summer and as a result have been reduced to a homebound complaining bag of goo. Now that I’m starting to feel better, I’m getting ready to rip shit up this fall. I need action ideas.

On any given day, you can jack off with your lawnmowers, weedwhackers, edgers, leafblowers, chainsaws, logging trucks, coal rollers, snowblowers, and snowplows, but sure, *I* am the asshole when I flip you the double bird for ruining the quiet

It really hurts to read this. Don’t Look Up came out in my most active climate resistance (as in, do stuff that can get you arrested) period. It was exciting to see a motion picture about climate change… but now it feels like the efforts we all expended were for naught. Sorry for the doomerism.

I can’t watch it anymore. When we made it there was still a window for urgent action at scale. Now the window is “brace yourself.” *I remember doing media for it and meeting elected officials in the U.S. and UK and being stunned how little clue or care about climate they had. It was scary.

Contemplating diving into the AI battle at work. Is it worth fighting the bros who are destroying my four decades of experience in technical content development? Or should I skulk in a dark corner until the pink slip inevitably comes?

They shut down main street for a July 4 parade here in my small Vermont town. Until the parade kicks in, there’s no traffic noise - no big trucks, no revving motorcycles. For an hour a year, it’s bliss.

European airports: mandatory pre- and post-entry passport scanners, photographs, and fingerprinting Canadian airports: more pre-entry passport scanners and photographs US border control gateway: “We have a new thing now, crane your neck out the car window and look into my wired Logitech camera”

Today in Hamburg I learned that 12th graders every year set bronze plaques into the sidewalk in front of the homes of deported and murdered victims of the Nazis I can’t help but wonder if US children will someday do this
