local crotchety grandpa has just enough of a medical emergency to scare the shit out of me, then goes back to eating his prescription cat food like a raccoon scavenging a meal from the trash, peeing on cat beds, and sleeping on my nice human mattress while zonked out on pain meds.

I don’t really get the urge to use social media anymore except to say: look at this creature. she loves me so much. isn’t she perfect

making air biscuits while smushed against my whole face. she loves me but she does not care much if I can breathe

YouTube is just constantly breaking its own subtitles and it would be so funny if I didn’t actually wANT SUBTITLES

“Only those who see themselves as kinder humans” Sorry but I DO think I’m kinder than any fascist and I don’t think that in a sneering contempt kind of way. I don’t think fascists are trying to be kind?

The Telegraph@telegraph.co.uk

The progressive version of Twitter offers a world of vicious, sneering odium that only those who see themselves as kinder humans dish out 🔗 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/07/03/is-there-anything-more-pathetic-than-a-bluesky-user/?WT.mc_id=tmgoff_li_pathetic-than-a-bluesky-user/

not to romanticize them I’m just saying they knew how to throw a party that was more than a vehicle for corruption

“violence” against cops now includes hurting their feelings

Margaret Killjoy@margaret.bsky.social

takeaway from the press conference: 13 people are in custody (one was already in custody) for conspiring to interfere with law enforcement officers. 2 people are currently not in custody. The state says that it's violence whether or not any cops were hurt.

my goal for this weekend is to get the nametag, I doubt I can level it up but it looks like losses under 1k points don’t count so EVENTUALLY I have to get it. it’s only like 5 games. I have to win 5 games in a weekend right

I despair at how stupid my teammates are and then 4 seconds later do something equally stupid. I’m so used to playing with friends who are way better than me at the game and make me look good lol

People who generate “finished” products with AI don’t seem to have any appreciation for the fact that basically NO creators go through and just create the final work like some kind of human 3D printer. Writing out ideas before you focus on writing a good sentence is just how you write.

Dannagal Goldthwaite Young@dannagal.bsky.social

OMFG “… it’s allowed me to focus more of my time and energy on what really matters, which is the ideas, the thinking … rather than spending a lot of my time writing sentences from scratch” RATHER THAN SPENDING A LOT OF TIME WRITING SENTENCES FROM SCRATCH. That IS the ideas and the thinking m’lady!!

The “we have to know our neighbors” instinct warring with the “all my neighbors are rated on a sliding scale of how likely they are to report me to the authorities as a queer radical”

from “I think we’re probably on good terms” to “I’m bribing her with baked goods and also blocking her sight line of my house, just in case”

they’re all attending the block party organized by the cops and I haven’t decided yet if I make an appearance in the name of being a good neighbor or staying far the hell away from that in the name of my sanity

it is in absolutely everybody’s best interests to develop some hobbies aside from Phone

Someone actually did a study a while back that showed the most effective way to get women out of TERF groups wasn’t people trying to change their minds, it was them getting literally any benign hobby, like learning other languages or taking up needlework

I may or may not be alive, but I would have spent so many days upon weeks upon months more of my life crying on the floor or laying catatonic in bed or suffering debilitating panic attacks. The quality of life improvement is immeasurable.

I have beloveds who would be dead if they hadn't had access to antidepressants. Pretty sure you do, too.

Part of my problem is that we’ve structured all of our infrastructure and services and employment with the assumption that people own and drive a personal vehicle, so regardless whether they have the right to, many have the absolute necessity.

These nazis are walking around undefended villages, rigging them with explosives for a laugh and filming their own crime. Every one of them will be held accountable. This suprematist settler project must be dismantled.

More villages in South Lebanon being detonated by Israel. Israel is the one sharing these videos. They are proud of their war crimes.

The right’s policies and positions all stem from a core belief that white people built and run the modern world because they are the superior people, it could only have been them, everyone knows it, and the left is made up of sore losers and bleeding hearts.

like obviously it sucks to have people walking around saying the most deranged hateful ignorant shit and doing real harm with those words but I’d argue America in 2026 is the outcome of trying to fix what bigots say instead of what they believe

I honestly think “political correctness” did us all a huge disservice because all the right learned was that they’re not allowed to talk about the natural hierarchies but they all still believe in them. And they think we believe in them, too, we just want to cheat our way up.

if you’re removing exhibits because “patriotism” but those exhibits are about true events in history, the conclusion I must draw is that you believe the nation as it actually existed is not worthy of my patriotism.

The irony of me, someone who grew up under a pile of red white and blue everything, feeling more antipathy for USA than my leftist girlfriend who grew up liberal is not lost on me

The bizarre thing about the conservative obsession with patriotism is that when I grew up a little and learned about all the lies and omissions I DID start to hate America a little bit. Because clearly they had to lie to make me love it!

People I know who grew up liberal are now more patriotic than ex-conservatives because conservative patriotism is about faith and feeling and must be protected from anything that challenges or complicates those feelings or it’ll collapse into disillusioned resentment.

I know this is a fairly minor thing but I was just reminded of someone being put in charge of our national museums, not because they know anything about history, but because they promised to make museums about having the right feelings

Here at the Whipple building for the final day of a week of action where people from across the country came to Minneapolis to help and learn from us for when the federal government comes for their City. This isn’t over until ICE is abolished & Whipple with its inhumane conditions cease to exist. 1/
