@adobe.com You have ruined what was once a masterpiece of commercial software. Your crap product is now a bloated POS that consumes all available memory, freezes, crashes, makes endless effort to convince me to use its "AI" features.... TOTAL EFFING GARBAGE. Go back or go broke.
This is the greatest American foreign policy betrayal of the post-WWII era, because it is without any basis in any principle for which we have otherwise sincerely - or even, cynically - expressed fidelity. I am sickened. The next step will be alignment with China. Together, to carve up the world.
Breaking news: U.S. sides with Russia to vote against a U.N. resolution condemning Moscow for the Ukraine war. Washington’s dramatic shift on the conflict marks a major break with its European allies and coincides with the Trump administration’s bid to repair relations with the Kremlin.
"Rebuild Local News" by making local political agency relevant again. The nation ceded authority and "celebrity" to the federal government, rendering irrelevant who ran statehouses & city halls. Devolve the power and a thousand local journalists will flourish.
This is great news. Rebuild Local News seems to be doing some really good work, and Matt's very thoughtful on this stuff.
"We must build a system...." This post gets it: what Trump demonstrated in 1 short month is that our present configuration is fundamentally vulnerable: the concentration of power invites its capture & malignant use. To guard against tyranny, we must devolve that power away from the core.
The apotheosis of DC Centralization: Zero resilience = Very bad. "Furthermore, it's possible that [David Lebryk] is the only person on earth that fully understands how all the many components of how these sprawling legacy IT systems — really a legacy IT 'network' — fits together and interacts."
Consider the observation by Mr. Bergstrom below. It captures our dilemma: the concentration of authority in DC has enfeebled our socio-political resilience: we are vulnerable & fragile. We need to expand choke-points as a longer term policy defense mechanism.
So it turns out that compared to centralized distribution of digital information on the web, printed material in libraries provided a kind of distributed defense against the casual whims of an authoritarian government aiming to rewrite history.
"Efficiency" was a reasonable historical motivation for DC Centralization (e.g., federalization of education policy). But now, it creates vulnerability: we must swap "efficiency" for policy resilience & persistence. We must rebuild policy preference among states - as shield to winner-take-all.
Firing thousands of federal employees opens up the opportunity to create a workforce where the only criterion for being hired is your loyalty to Donald Trump and Elon Musk. It's not about efficiency.
You are up to date.
