"in software development, building the product is the point" i see this mindset absolutely everywhere nowadays and it misunderstands how the world works. advancements in software happen all the time, and the whole point of many projects is proving out the value of a core, novel insight!

i don't understand how people can look at the vibrant and flourishing open-source ecosystem, and say "yeah well we already knew how to do all of this" because we literally didn't! most open-source projects function like research projects, and many are also finished products.

i pulled the $90 ancient tomb from edge of eternities and i'm just coasting on that for the foreseeable future more importantly i pulled the eternity elevator and actually stationed it up to 20

the main reason i don’t like seeing llm pull requests is because it removes the human connection. you can compensate for this with flattery, which is suitably distracting for a guy like me.

fixing my arch installation has slowly become my β€œdo a little bit every day” zen gardening activity. today i made a systemd unit to mount my NAS samba share of MP3s on login, and fixed an ALSA issue that was showing up in my bevy logs.

learning rust is like drinking the dune poison because you have a powerful psychic experience and then you find out if you're the only person who did it and survived who was still a man
