Leinster Munster is going the way it used to when Leinster used to wear that type of shirt.

Almost everything. I’ve no concept what people are talking about when they say things are worse. You’d to insane in about 5 mins in 1990.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

The deeply weird thing for me as a foreigner is being a registered anything. Identifying as closely with a party as the median American does is a very fringe activity in Ireland

Man. www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeau...

You see these posts on here with people putting their political affiliation in their Tinder profile or whatnot. That's just not a thing here. The frat bro equivalents are not identifying as any party etc

Good odds large volumes of Premier League players can’t name the parties available to them.

These guys seem bad. The Democrats should probably stop supporting their legislation in any way. Like normal opposition parties.

Keith Edwards@keithedwards.bsky.social

Barack Obama just delivered a blistering rebuke of Trump's actions against Ilhan Omar. This is worth reading in full.

Interesting how I can almost immediately tell someone isn’t American if they are wearing a Yankees cap. It’s basically the default baseball cap in Europe.

Mercy rules etc seem very un-American to me as an outsider. They are very much an alien concept in sports here. You’d give your bench a go etc but you don’t stop trying.

If any college programs are looking for a coach that doesn’t take his foot off the gas, a high school coach in Oregon was just fired for going for an onside kick up 57-0 in the first half. Their opponents quit the game at halftime. 💀

People on this website love to think they aren’t gullible and can’t be manipulated etc but then stuff like the Russian bots are dead stuff goes uber viral without anyone asking for proof…

Joseph Menn@joemenn.bsky.social

No, bombing Yandex has not impacted automated Russian trolling operations in the U.S.

Sharp intake of breath from everyone when the first date popped up on Grand Designs and it said “August 2016”

I would say my firm’s saas spend is up post AI as it’s made the project management tool more accessible to people. Having a CRM or a project management tool as a structured store of data and then using Claude to query etc is an excellent user experience.

austin@aparker.io

saas is undead, a thread

I’m very much not very online anymore and I have to say the AI sex cult stuff does really sound like David Ike lizard people stuff. May be true but you all sound like lunatics.

You’d get similar numbers for solar farms. The public aren’t a good gauge for what development is needed.

'More than six-in-ten voters (61 per cent) say that the building of data centres should be stopped “for the time being at least”, while 23 per cent disagree." www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...

The US now has a marginally harsher attitude to the ICC than under Obama. Same as they do marginally more extra judicial killing. Same as they imprison more people without trial than under Obama but it’s not new. It’s all on a spectrum and I don’t kid myself about that.

Brian Finucane@bcfinucane.bsky.social

The USG crusade to destroy the ICC seems primarily motivated by a desire to shield Israeli officials like Netanyahu and Gallant from accountability. Worth recalling that those two face charges related to using starvation as a method of warfare in Gaza.

College Football should do something about having massive hype and atmosphere and then almost every kickoff result in a dead ball.

Honestly the logistics of going to almost all of these from Cork is easier than getting to Slane. Potentially cheaper too.

Are people actually interested in what people were doing on 9/11? I assume nobody cares what I was doing.

Depressingly you don’t need AI to create a civilisation ending bio weapon. The technology and knowledge to do that is 50 years old. The results of the research also sits in freezers around the place.

If my group chats are anything to go by there’s going to be a lot of middle aged Irish men going on trips to Seville to see Troy Parrot.

They’ll need to switch to litres

Patrick De Haan@gasbuddyguy.bsky.social

diesel is closing in on a $6/gal national average as wholesale prices surge tonight 13c/gal with new attacks and threats. BUT the real story may be out West- California could blow past $8/gal, and some pumps aren't even built to display what could come next.

The fact they have the English characters using Americanisms in Ted Lasso is so ridiculous. It’s training not “practice” for example. The premise of the show is that he’s a fish out of water, I’m sure the audience can deal with it

Nobody will convince me that having vast quantities of mail-in votes is good for belief in the integrity of the voting process. Without doubt if we had more of it the far right would have been out claiming a fix etc. We stumbled into a very transparent system.

My BlueSky feed has gone pretty rapidly from "AI is a useless toy" to "AI is a massive cyber security threat that needs to be stopped."

Am I being dumb but is it not perfectly reasonable for Google and Apple to rename things when the government say to rename them? That’s how things get renamed in Ireland?

The replies here are amazing. People deeply offended at the fact that you don’t need to go really out of the way to consume vast quantities of water

You don’t need to make drinking water a part-time job since too much of it doesn’t have any real health benefit. 🔗: on.wsj.com/4hUsBWd

The other bizarre thing I’ve seen a lot on here today is that people who don’t like AI are deeply concerned about the ROI of VC investments. I usually quite enjoy people losing money on things I don’t like (e.g. Crypto)

Tuffy@smtuffy.bsky.social

Thinking AI will just go away is like thinking the internet was a temporary fad in 2001

Mark Zuckerberg buying an old house in Waterford should not create any sort of emotion in you. It's not worth caring about these things.

Not trying to take a dig at Don but do people have amnesia about America pre Trump. For my entire adult life they’ve been entrapping various people by suggesting bomb plots or whatnot. Same as people forgetting about Obama era drone strikes or Guantanamo Bay or what not.

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

This is extraordinarily dark: government agents surveilling peaceful protestors and trying to entrap them into breaking the law. It’s a classic measure of an authoritarian state.

Clearly the stockpiles were far too low in the first place to be at the levels needed for a conflict with China over Taiwan.

SCOOP: Trump’s Iran War has burned through well *over 90%* of key long-range missiles Sources tell @swin24.bsky.social that the percentage of critical long-range missiles that the Trump administration has depleted in its failing war is in ‘at least the high nineties.’ From @zeteo.com —

Always been a truther on the idea you need to self censor on TikTok e.g. "unalive" and that view is only strengthened by the fact that you can go on there an watch all this footage of teens stealing cars and driving down the motorway.
