i've always used printf style formatting in rust wrt to arguments i.e: format!("foo {}", bar). but recently i've been using the other syntax i.e.: format!("foo {bar}") and... I kinda like it. i don't recognize myself anymore.

i fear in my attempt to make a minimal illumos-based daemon supervisor... i'm really just recreating SMF lol. every question i unearth is just leading me back to "oh that's why they do it that way"

once i embraced the mentality of "i can make videos about whatever i want" and not chase metrics... i've paradoxically started getting the best metrics i've ever had lol. it's amazing. why would anyone do this in bash? idk. but it was fun. i love programming.

my method for improving illumos performance is unbeaten - i ping @papertigers.net directly and say "this is slow lol". he sent me a custom compiled lib9p.so.1 and i LOFS mounted it into a zone and suddenly i'm going from 28Mb/s to 500Mb/s+ writing to a 9pfs mount. insanity.
