@jparish.bsky.social I don’t know if anyone else has asked you this, but are you done with the Color Dreams games? I know, calling them games is a stretch, and they’re miserable, but you always cover the details behind these games so well. Thanks.

@michaelhobbes.bsky.social Have you ever heard of AlkaMelt? I don’t know how my wife came upon this stuff, but she told me she was going to buy it until, after entering her credit card info, they wanted her to watch a crazy video before finalizing the order. The video was probably partially AI too.

It’s hard to be inspired to write when life leaves you dead tired. It comes easily enough when I’m relaxed, but lately everything is overloaded and I don’t feel like doing jack other than trying to relax. Ugh, productivity.

That’s not meant to be sensationalist, I didn’t pick today for this post, I’m just making a statement of my own existence. I’m still here, and I think I’m going to stick around.

@bandcamp.com Are you having technical issues? Your website and the app aren’t working at the moment. ETA until working again?

@frankcifaldi.bsky.social is there a way I could get in touch with you directly? I want to research something game related but don’t know how to start. It would be better if explained it directly, and maybe you could help point me in the right direction. Thank you.

@jparish.bsky.social as someone who didn’t have a Zip Drive, I was figuring out how to split MP3s over multiple floppies or to upload them to my college’s online storage. In so many ways it was the beginning of the modern world of tech, but with more crappy RealAudio streams than MP3s. Ugh.

@jparish.bsky.social Funny listening to the latest Retronauts and Bowie’s Telling Lies coming on. I was at Bowling Green from 96-97 and we had his Earthling album at the radio station I dj’d at, but Bowie put a bunch of remixes of that song on his site for free download. Wavs and MP3s. Halcyon days.

@intlanthem.bsky.social do you guys check your emails? I’ve been writing you about a pre-order from September that I haven’t gotten for over a week to almost nothing. One of your bosses sent me the email for your orders department and they’ve outright ignored me. What the hell?

@jparish.bsky.social I know you’re busy, you’re ALWAYS busy (dude, you are so ON!), so I’m sorry to be annoying, but is there nothing for your Patreon today? Maybe tomorrow? Just asking because you usually give a heads-up if there is a delay. Thanks, as always.

SURPRISE SURPRISE

JFC. Ron DeHaas, founder of the Christian antiporn app Covenant Eyes, has stepped down from NCOSE after his 38-year old son was charged with sexual abuse of a child. Covenant Eyes is the app used by House Speaker Mike Johnson and his son to monitor each other's internet behavior.

So Gloria Gaynor has secretly been a piece of crap. I don’t think she will survive much further professionally now that her real motives are known. #ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles

For the record, the only version of the song I care about it Cake’s rendition. I always thought Gloria’s version was overwrought. I understand why it was a hit, but the song itself is different from the performance, which is merely satisfactory. More disco in a sea of disco.

I remember saying to my father that the 80s were so cool, to which he responded that he remembers them as awful and tense. He complained about the politics of the time and how expensive things were. And yet, he voted for you know who. WTF? Glad I got my head right.

@lecinenerd.bsky.social I’m sure you’re still getting asked this all the time, but I didn’t see anything so… What’s up with 302010? Is it over? Is it on a break? Are guys still recording new episodes that are just not up yet? Sorry for being annoying. Hope you’re doing well!

@jparish.bsky.social listening to 85 pt 2 and thinking, has Retronauts ever done an episode dedicated to unreleased games? As a fan of unreleased media who used to run a blog about unreleased music (considering starting a podcast about it too), I’d love an episode about games that never arrived.

@jparish.bsky.social By the way, I’ve meant to say this to someone but I keep forgetting, though I think you’d appreciate it. Ever noticed the music in Norfair in the original Metroid is VERY SIMILAR to what is played in Ghostbusters when Venkman is talking to possessed Dana floating above her bed?

@jparish.bsky.social I’ve been listening to the Bomberman 1 & 2 vinyl on Ship To Shore a lot lately and really love it. I’ve read a little about the audio glitch in some early FAMI/NES games and was wondering if you knew if the sound was corrected on that issue of the soundtrack. Thanks.

@jparish.bsky.social listening to the Patreon episode of Retronauts about buying games back in the day. Just wanted to say, great episode! It won’t pop up in my feed but it’s on the Patreon app. Also, release dates were harsh. Can’t tell you how panicked I was waiting for Zelda 2 to arrive!

Taco Bell got rid of their breakfast menu?!?!? That was my favorite breakfast to poison myself with! WTF??? I’m gonna blast some Napalm Death in tribute to my beloved Steak Breakfast Crunchwrap. I am so crestfallen.

Am I still here? Oh, wait, I am. As little as I post here, I’m still more active than I’ll ever be on Twit… er, that other service.

To anyone wondering what happened to my blog, life is messy and I just haven’t been able to slow down and write a post. I hope to get back to it soon enough, but right now things are just too messy. Sorry.

@jparish.bsky.social Listening to the Zelda 2 episode and it brought back all kinds of memories. I had the official Nintendo guidebook and had read a lot about the game but couldn’t play it. My brother had the first Zelda and I was so excited for the sequel.

A friend managed to get a copy before anyone else could and I borrowed it for a while and got nowhere. Eventually my parents bought me a copy and I played until I hurt. My brother and I made jokes about Error and the women in the villages who refilled Link’s health. We were dumb kids.

It took forever for me to beat it, even with a lot of helpful tools. I still have a lot of love for it, maybe a little more than the first Zelda. It’s a really great game and I still like to load it up occasionally.

I was reading about The Sundays. I’ve never really listened to them but kept seeing them mentioned in regards to the band Wishy (are they here? Their new ep is great!). I guess they never stopped making music, they may never release any of it though. That’s both the saddest and most beautiful thing.
