"Every man's life is a warfare, but most of all and above all, the minister is continually in war and strife." (Richard Sibbes)

Saw a license plate this morning with the month and date of my birth. There must be some mistake, though: the guy that got out looked really old!

"Faith is built by careful, thorough exposition of the person, character, and work of Christ." (T. David Gordon)

"Exposition is the restatement of a Scripture – whether a word, a verse, a chapter or a book – so that its message emerges with clarity." (Alec Motyer)

"In the final analysis, the burden for the success of preaching rests on the Preacher's shoulders, on Jesus' shoulders." (Darrell Johnson)

Jesus brought his anguish to the Father without hiding it (Mark 14:35-36). “Don't be more spiritual or less human than Jesus.” @jasonkovacs

In the Jays' 50th anniversary year, this piece of franchise history deserves to be put back where it belongs. I've reached out and I'm hoping @BlueJays, @ExPlace and @cityoftoronto can work together to restore it. If this spot matters to you too, please share. 💙

After the FIFA World Cup used the lot for extra seating, two of those bases, including home plate, are gone, and the other two have been moved out of place.

If you’re in the Toronto area and you’re free this Saturday, consider coming to this training by @jasonkovacs. Registration closes tomorrow. Really excited by what Jason will share. gfceast.churchcenter.com/registration...

gfceast.churchcenter.comSide-by-Side: Equipping the Church for One-Another Ministry - Grace Fellowship Church East TorontoIn Genesis 3, we see more than humanity’s fall. We see the patterns that still shape us today. When sin and suffering press in, we often respond with some version of fight (control, blame, self-justification) or flight (hiding, withdrawal, distraction). And yet, God doesn’t leave people to manage their shame alone. He pursues, speaks, covers, and promises rescue. This one-day training equips ordinary believers for one-another ministry: the everyday, relational work of helping each other follow Jesus in the real conditions of life. Using a simple Genesis 3 “Gospel Turn” framework, we’ll learn how to slow down, ask wise questions, discern competing voices, practice honest confession and repentance, and then bring the person and work of Christ to bear with humility and hope. You’ll leave with a practical pathway you can use in conversations, small groups, and member-to-member care so that burden-bearing becomes normal, isolation is challenged, and the body builds itself up in love.Speaker:Jason Kovacs serves as Executive Director of Gospel Care Collective, where he loves walking with people through whatever they are facing with a gospel-centered, clinically-informed approach. "Expositional preaching is empowered preaching that rightfully submits the shape and emphasis of the sermon to the shape and emphasis of a biblical text." (David Helm)

The Blue Jays with me in the stands ⚾ 2024: 3-9. Outscored 65-37. 😬 2025: 11-3. Outscored them 93-54. 🔥 2026: 7-6. Outscored 53-40. 🤔 Only the Jays can post a winning record and still lose the scoreboard by 13. We won every close one and got flattened in the rest.

Worst night of the year: Kirk jersey giveaway. They ran out before I got one, and then we lost 5-4. Double loss.
