🎥 + Arts PSA: icymi founding editor Tim Wong has secured funding to relaunch a slowly growing archive version of the fantastic NZ film and arts writing zine-turned-website The Lumière Reader, which ran from 2003-2016. The first tranch of curated archive content is online now 🤓❤️ lumiere.net.nz

Ended up voting at Queensgate shopping centre where they are taking non-special votes from six or seven different electorates. There were queues but the wait time wasn’t too bad.

That’s Cargill not Carroll as autocorrect would have you believe.

I’m watching The Prisoner for the first time and have arrived at the episode where he drives Patrick Carroll’s No.2 mad and the weird trampoline martial arts (with motorcycle crash helmets) is the daftest thing I’ve seen in eons.

Saturday is EAFC day and I have been promoted to World Class (yay!) but that means every team I play is like a million worker ants with magnetic feet scurrying to intercept every pass.

According to Steven Knight (the writer of the next Bond) and Gary Oldman (well-connected), the decision was made back in September. It is already done.

Final auditions to play James Bond are happening this week • Callum Turner and Jack Lowden are among the actors auditioning • 3-5 actors are auditioning (via THR)

I have to admit that I was not very fond of World Shut Your Mouth at the time, but it comes to mind on a regular basis these days.

Happy 69th birthday, singer, songwriter, musician and author - Julian Cope. 🎂

Thanks to the arrival of my EasyVote email, I’ve remembered that I set up my RealMe profile with my decades-old Gmail account. So I’d better not ditch that in a huff like I did with all my other Google services.

Wondering whether there will be any consequence for such blatant lies. Apart from winning the election, obviously.

Bonkers National Party video on the other place 'Labour splashed the cash and caused inflation etc'. This graph and the accompanying voiceover caught my eye. It's a straight lie. As far as I can tell the red bars are the budgeted operating allowances each year. Govt spent $145bn in 2022 ffs!

🧵 goes for NZ too. Remarkable Place to Die, Blue Murder Motel, etc.

You know that if I was writing about a trend a year ago for @screenhub.bsky.social then it's definitely played out now: www.screenhub.com.au/news/feature...

This election (like every election) is a contest between two ideas: extraction vs investment. The idea that you should be planting trees whose shade you will never sit beneath OR we should cut down that tree now because there’s a quid in it.

Not that Spielberg is a chump with that kinda thing but I worked for several years in a satellite TV newsroom and the control room scene in DISCLOSURE DAY is so authentic that they literally hired one of our sat operators to play one

I understand the desire to always be at the front of the news cycle, but this drip-feeding of policy just makes it look like you are pulling ideas out of your arse. Nothing strategic or coordinated about it. Just whatever you feel like announcing that day.

Weird surprising fact*: none of the actors who have played James Bond have ever been in a movie** together. *as near as I can tell, go ahead and prove me wrong **except for documentaries about being James Bond

Why does Netflix even bother having the letters NZ in the name of their ANZ Content Team? Adding insult to injury.

I hope the CFO resigned because RNZ didn’t pay freelancers for two months at the beginning of the year.
