I built a @ghost.org theme. It’s called Proza, and it’s for people who write: blogs, essays, notes, newsletters. Prioritising great typography, it’s set the way a printed page would, with first-line indents, old-style figures, real quotation marks, and small capitals for acronyms. → proza.site

daniel.pizzaWhy I made Proza, a typographic theme for Ghost · Daniël van der WindenWhat I learned designing Trema, my book publication, turned into Proza: a typographic theme for anyone on Ghost who cares about how their writing reads.

Light and dark follow each reader’s device settings. The dark mode isn’t simply an inverted light mode: the text is warmer, greys are rebalanced, and the accent colour you set is lightened just enough to stay readable.

Paragraphs can be hyphenated like a book, or ragged right. One setting in the theme, and every post follows. (When read on a phone, text always reverts to its ragged setting, because a narrow column can’t justify gracefully 🤓)

I’ve designed and built a theme for @ghost.org called Plain Text, made for writers who want a quiet, typographically refined reading experience. Before I submit it to the marketplace I’d love to find a tester or two. If you run a Ghost site (or know someone who does) and want to try, let me know?

I think I would like a cartoonishly enormous points deduction, like six hundred points. Like when people get sentenced to a hundred and seventy years in prison, just meaninglessly big numbers.

These examples! Who wrote this, Don Draper?

Is asking someone to leave the beverages at home for an interview as fussy as reminding a lady to wear pantyhose or a gentleman to ask before lighting a cigarette? We assembled a team of Post staffers across the newsroom — and commenters — to find out: https://wapo.st/4dwx0LS

I photograph every book myself (just a handful outstanding, still), but don’t have a good photography/lighting setup. So this combination of trial and error in Figma and code will do!

When we’re close to finishing our evening walk, I often tell my dog “come on, let’s go home and hang out”. He doesn’t really have a choice (he doesn’t know this), but he’s always *stoked*.

I started a Patreon. I’ve been growing tired of posting bits and pieces across different social platforms. I need one place where I can collect and share my thoughts, and slow things down. While I gather ideas and figure out what I want it to become, everything I share will be free to access.

The annoying truth is that nearly every service/piece of software these days has some gobbledygook involved with it.

So it turns out I'm not happy with any of the popular options 😂. Proton's CEO made a weirdly pro-Trump statement earlier this year, and Bitwarden is US-based. I think they're all better than 1Password though.
