Bills are going up, we know that and we know why - we allow the global price of gas to set the price of our own North Sea gas and our own green electricity.

Droughts in winter……how crazy does the climate have to get! The biggest thing we can all do about it? Stop eating meat and dairy.

It takes 1,000 litres of drinking water to make just 1 litre of cow milk. Or 50 litres of water to make 1 litre of oat milk.

A quarter pound beef burger uses nearly 2,000 litres of water - two tonnes of water for just over 100 grams of beef burger. A plant based burger of the same size uses 90% less water, around 200 grams for the same sized 100 gram burger… www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Banks can afford an increase in the ‘windfall tax’ aka bank levy - they say so privately. But why are we still talking about this - we pay them 4% interest on their deposits, their cash piles, built of our deposits….then charge a 3% levy on their profits…..profits we boost by ~£30 Billion a year.

Windfall profits tackle the symptom not the cause, what we need to do is to prevent windfall profits in the first place - by price controlling oil and gas.

If we control the profits of North Sea oil and gas producers we won't need a windfall tax at all, we'll save £10 billion a year on our energy bills and North Sea operators will get a guaranteed 10% profit margin.

The headline is misleading, I never even mentioned Andy Burnham… What I did say is repeated faithfully in the article, for those that get that far. Past the Ad wall. I said ignore the hype about blackouts this winter, we have more than enough spare capacity.

Here’s some numbers - we have 10% spare capacity on the grid right this winter, by 2030 data centres are estimated to be taking 10% of Britain’s power. That’s our margin - gone, unless we build more, or they do. We’re busy enough getting to 100% green on the grid I reckon.

The headline is misleading, I never even mentioned Andy Burnham… What I did say is repeated faithfully in the article, for those that get that far. Past the Ad wall. I said ignore the hype about blackouts this winter, we have more than enough spare capacity.

But we do need to do something about data centres - I suggest we make them responsible for the power they need. Rather than just plug in to what we have.

Some drum banging from the heat pump industry here and its leading salesman - Greg Jackson. Heat pump sales are actually down 20% this year. The doubling of demand Jackson cites is a doubling of enquiries not sales. Heat pumps don’t work as advertised and that message is getting through.

Capitalists might think we can’t change this - their windfall profits from Casino Capitalism. But we can. Here’s how.

This won't just affect veg - animal farming, for meat and dairy, is incredibly water intensive - it takes 1,000 litres of water to make 1 litre of cow's milk - or just 50 litres of water to make 1 of oat milk.

Donald Trump just said something I said. Data centres should be responsible for their own power - they should not be allowed to just connect to the grid we have. It makes perfect sense, these mega projects in all senses and their design and build should include their own power needs - and water.

The climate crisis is deadly, people who deny it are accessories to these deaths, wittingly or not. Climate denial should be a crime.

The Tories talk big on economic management and being the party of business - and after all the talk they walk the other way.

That’s neither business like nor in the best interests of the country. All Thatchers chickens are coming home to roost - it’s time to throw off her dogma, Peoplenomics is the new economic model.

The Tories talk big on economic management and being the party of business - and after all the talk they walk the other way.

Failing to set up a national wealth fund, flogging off our vital national infrastructure, on the cheap - now it’s mostly foreign owned and badly run. The Tories don’t have a clue actually. The extent to which they are 'the party of business' is simply that they are the party that big biz can lobby.

Wrote this in the Indie yesterday - Jackdaw and Rosebank very much in the news, the bigger prize by far is to price fix our North Sea oil and gas, protect jobs and industry using a green energy mechanism - and knock £10 billion off our energy bills every year. www.independent.co.uk/voices/dale-...

Lots of guff talked today about Jackdaw, especially by my fellow tree huggers. Jackdaw won't add to the climate crisis, it will actually lower our carbon emissions. We need more logic and less emotion guys...:)

I've been against new drilling in the North Sea….that's a fact. I proposed a new policy which is that we control the price of oil and gas from our North Sea.

Not a bad idea, especially if it comes ahead of the scrapping of grants for heat pumps - and even electric cars. Here’s a thing, it should bring a proper economic focus to the equipment being bought, borrowed for - the fundamental Q of pay back ought to loom large. inews.co.uk/news/zero-in...

inews.co.ukZero-interest loans for heat pumps set to launch within weeksThe money will cover heat pumps, solar panels and plug-in batteries to encourage more households to invest in green tech to lower energy bills

If I borrow this money how long will the savings take to pay it back? The answer for a heat pump is three times the life of the equipment, aka never. Even at 0% interest it simply doesn't work.

The answer for solar is far better - 6 to 8 years with equipment life of 20, so mainly back around three times over. Add a battery and that gets worse, payback wise - but it still works.  Easy to take a grant and not think too much about it - different with a loan.

In the face of this, it’s obscene to be giving £8k grants to well off families (who have a spare £8k to match the grant with) - for a heat pump, which is more likely to put their bills up than not. And which will never pay for itself.
