Bluesky has taught me I am horrible person because I live rural, drive cars, vote for the wrong Democrats, criticize Democrat elected officials & the party, haven't voted a week before Election Day, think genocide is bad, and today I learned that I'm ableist because I refuse to use AI. 🤦‍♀️

My kid learning to kick flip. Late 1990s.

Yes on 40, California.

First grade me refusing to comply on picture day.

Six sleeps til my next train adventure. And I just figured out that I'll be in Chicago & Michigan November 4-6, and passing through Texas on the 4 day trip home. The best stories come from bad decisions has always been my motto. This one may be a banger.

The library branch nearest me is open from noon to 4 pm on Tuesday & Thursday. 8 hours/week. Got a temporary online card. It expires if I don't go pick up a physical one. Today. I can because I don't have a job. Hubby can't cuz he works Monday-Friday. Life in rural California.

Mcclintock is the rep for CA 05. Not CA04, as the California Democrats state here. They care so much about rural Californians, they can't remember who represents which district. This tracks though. They've put ZERO effort into beating him with the best candidate they've ever had. Vote Masuda!

Neighbor came by to check in on me this morning.

So I'm filling out my ballot and wondering if it will be counted. My signature has changed over the decades as I've stopped using it on a damn near daily basis. I have no clue what it looked like when I registered to vote. I can pretty much guarantee it won't look the same when I sign this envelope.

There are millions and millions of videos on YouTube. Why is my feed either the back catalog of 2-3 channels (all of which I subscribe to), the same videos its shown me 57 times already (duh, I'm not gonna watch them) or videos I've already watched? Excellent strategy to get me to watch ads. 🤪

I feel like poop. Covid test negative so at least there's that, but omg my throat is killing me & my nose is both stuffed up & won't stop running at the same time. The couch, my blankie & I are now a thruple.

Why does a just cleaned bathroom sink make a man think it's time to shave? It hasn't even been 24 hours since I cleaned it. And how tf do the tiny little hairs get BEHIND the faucet?!?

Fuck the USPS. I showed her id, death certificate w/my name & address as next of kin & my id w/that address. Postmaster said thats enough to change her address. Now they want more proof? How about the box of fucking ashes and some DNA samples? I think I still have some shit stained clothes...

It's here!

When one is completely overwhelmed dealing with dead parent shit, it's probably a bad decision to go on a ridiculous vacation. So anyway, 4 weeks from now I'm off on yet another long train trip, this time to go tag my 49th state. It'd be cheaper and faster to fly, but it's their money so.... 🤣

We have a couch. We each have a spot on said couch. I get up to go do some thing - dishes, pee, answer a call. When I return, my spot is gone. He is using not just his spot, not just the neutral zone, but the whole damn thing. "Do you want your spot back?" Nah I prefer standing thanks 🤣

The penultimate video of my 2025 Rail Pass trip. The last segment on the California Zephyr (coming soon) is epic, but this one is really pretty and has something any skydiver will recognize. youtu.be/1L2_QsyozKI?...

Started the purging of Mom's "stash" of quilting fabric. All quilt shop purchases, no WalMart or Hobby Lobby stuff for her. Bin #1 - Xmas fabric. 53 pieces totaling 61 yards. Nobody needs SIXTY ONE YARDS of Xmas fabric. And that's just the first bin of fabric. There's three more.🤪

Back in 2001, I was a skydiver. There was a debate online post 9/11 about whether or not a parachute could save a non-jumper leaping from a skyscraper window. Consensus was no. Non-jumpers wouldn't be able to do it. Only experienced skydivers would survive. Skydivers are some gatekeeping mf'ers.

My parents and grandmother at Dad's LA County Sheriff Academy graduation, 1963. He's 25 in this picture.

Got the phone call. I'm a 61 year old orphan. When I left yesterday, she was smiling and happy and looking forward to another milkshake. She's with my Dad and my brother now. They're all smiling and happy. Eventually I will be again too. Where'd my box of Kleenex go?

Moms back at the assisted living. Hospice took over, she's on the good drugs and she's comfortable. She's pretty happy, smiley and agreeable - and not quite all there - on morphine. "Okay!" Or "Yes!" to every question. And sometimes a random "Ok!" or 3 for no reason at all. 😄

My mom is dying and didn't even know it. I got to tell her yesterday. One of the hardest conversations I've ever had to have. And I'm not sure she will remember it this morning. Perhaps a blessing for her. I'll remember it until I can't remember anything. This sucks. Fuck you 2026.

Its close to the end. Palliative care team nurse suggested hospice; in hospital & in skilled nursing if she gets out. She's probably not getting out. I get to have that conversation w/her. A priest is stopping by this afternoon to do what priests do. I'm not okay, but falling apart is for later.

5 pm yesterday. Doctor call. Mom's blockage appears resolved, tube out, probably releasing her today. 4 o'clock this morning - 11 hours later. Nurse call. She vomited while sleeping. Choked. O2 level down to 80. Now in ICU with tube back in and lots of oxygen. 😬

Yup.

Sad. RIP Dolly.

3 am call from the assisted living. Mom has a distended abdomen and is in a lot of pain. Told them to send her to the ER. Was wondering why I couldn't get to sleep tonight. Guess now I know. Gonna be a "fun" day!

Took mom to the doctor yesterday. Parked less than straight into the handicapped spot next to us was a bro dozer with a Trump sticker AND a union sticker. Classic.

This seems like a good idea. Except if you have 2 10+ year old rare varietal rose bushes & an oak tree that must be removed & 2/3 of the house perimeter that will need concrete (or constant RoundUp). And none of that work will mean cheaper fire insurance. www.yahoo.com/news/us/arti...

From the old photos bins. Mom, Gramma and my aunt. Big Bear CA, 1944 Love the tent!

My cousin came up to see Mom. She really wanted to check out the rail bikes after hearing how much fun we had the two times we did them before. So this is what we did at sunset yesterday. #railbikes #amadorrailexplorers

Found while going through one of the old photo bins. Hi. My name is remote control.

The song of my people

Back in 1981, my high school formed our first soccer team. It was for the boys, of course, but I wanted to play. They said I couldn't. I brought up Title 9. I played. I sucked at soccer but I was pretty good at silently telling certain administrators to fuck right off. They hated me. 🤣

I wish I could mentally handle going back to being the slob I was 40 years ago. While I really do love my husband, I am so tired of cleaning up after him.

She's right.

My Dad got the COVID vaccine and a couple years later he died. He was 87 and had cancer but that's not important here. He got "the stick". That guy taking the fifth killed him. That's what Faux News said and I have one brain cell so I know. /s (just in case)

Got Mom moved to the Assisted living yesterday. She's safe, watched over and all her needs are met. I slept extremely well last night. Now I get to sort, donate, toss, pack, sell and move the rest of the stuff. Luckily it's nowhere near the amount that I had to deal with last year.

Said goodbye to the Knight yesterday. Now have cash to burn. Found a Dungeons and Dragons Tyrants Eye in Montana this morning. It's good that I have way too much to do here for the next couple weeks, cuz I'm ready to jump in the truck and go buy it right now.

Bridges and tanks and coke. No, not that kind of Coke. #Amtrak #travel

I'm not like @milesintransit.com who can do this with ease... but anyway here's my ride on the Sunset Limited from my 2025 marathon Amtrak trip.

Got really snippy w/Mom Saturday while cleaning feces off bathroom cabinets & tossing more shit stained clothes. Called twice yesterday to tell her about Dr appointment for hernia today. No answer. I may just blow it off if she doesn't answer this morning. I want my life back.
