Back to How to Rest again! This one is about the ways inflexibility can make you reckless with your limits. Get a copy on my patreon $20 tier (or $1 discounted slots, while they are still there). I’ll catch you up on older issues too!

part 45 of 46 “Sketchbook Comic: Book 3” is my personal sketchbook, where I juxtapose my art with writing about my experiences as a non-binary, chronically ill person. re-releasing this in advance of a print run! read the rest on my website, or support my patreon - links in bio!

This is how they look on the page! These two are a matching set, drawn with the same blue ball-point and shaded with light blue, dark blue, magenta, and a touch of red on the hair. Plus a fair amount of white paint-pen touch ups on the glasses and dress folds.

And these ones all together! I was experimenting with which markers to use on this page so there's a lot more variety in the colors and the lines. This whole series always makes me happy so I'm glad to get to share it with more people now!

In the original photos, she's actually wearing a light yellow dress with a dramatic spotlight behind her. Since most of my yellow markers had dried up I had fun with exaggerating the cooler colors and the contrast of the shadows.

Also, the spectacular @sheerspite.bsky.social carries free copies of Why We Mask in both English and French! They're based out of Tiohtià:ke or "Montreal" and both publish and distribute a wonderful assortment of zines (including other free ones) so go support them: bsky.app/profile/shee...

new free zine in distro: WHY WE MASK is an accessible primer on why people wear masks, & why you might wanna pop one on. How COVID is transmitted, & what it does in our bodies when we catch it, with illustrations featuring fat, queer, trans & disabled people of colour. sheerspite.ca/product/why-...

Just want to note that if you want to print your own copy, the files will work on a home printer! But they use a good amount of ink so heads up. I'd recommend using a photocopier if you have access to one (check local libraries as well as commercial printers) - it'll probably look nicer & cost less.

Kimball & I just sent out copies for all our Get New Releases and Monthly Mailings subs (who also get How To Rest #8), so keep an eye on your mailboxes if that's you. Soon I will also do some bulk mailings for folks interested in distributing (priority to mask blocs/mutual aid groups).
