Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain.

Doctor says, 'Treatment is simple. Great economic advisor Cramer's show on tonight. Go and watch him. That should pick you up.' Man bursts into tears. Says, 'But doctor... I am Cramer.'"

Me: The new agent harness is great. You feed your tokens into the machine. Then you run simulations which, if successful, produces tickets. If they fail you have to buy more tokens and keep running the sims. Once you have enough tickets you can redeem them Boss: are you at dave & busters, yes or no

Interesting trend: CTO/ Head of Eng / VPE folks at startups and mid-sized companies are... leaving / burning out. Hiring for these roles is HARD, but even after filling the role, they will often leave a few months later and take a career break And they have v good reasons

Wile E. Coyote, despaired, takes a bucket of paint and a brush and paints a beautiful two-bedroom house on a mountainside. He paints a beautiful coyote wife in the window, and two adorable coyote kids running around in the yard. He tries to enter this new coyote life, but it is inaccessible to him

There is a lot to say about the Nolan Odyssey movie. But one point that I think has not been emphasized enough is: this is a film about living in LA, as Nolan, my erstwhile British compatriot and age mate, has done for years. I gather it’s a strange place.

Tuesday, I went to see Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass. This was a hilarious comedy, somewhat like the old star-studded comedies that they used to make in the 70s where celebrities would play exaggerated versions of themselves and a hilarious romp ensues.

In addition to all the other things it was, it was also a parody of the Wizard of Oz. Definitely worth watching. It's also clear that John Hamm can have the same sense of his inherent ridiculousness that John Cena does. A great movie, glad I watched it in the theatre

I projected some of those in college, and enjoyed the genre, but these days, it seems like ensemble comedies like this are mostly stoner comedies, this wasn't that but was something funnier and weirder.

I met a doctor from an antique land Who said: two vast and trunkless shoes of stone Stand in the desert. Near them, in the sand, Half sunk, a smiling visage lies, whose grin, And wrinkled lip, and smile of warm merriment, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear: “My name is Pagliaccis, clown of clowns: Look upon my works, ye Troubled, and rejoice!”

I watched disclosure day last week, good movie although like many of Spielberg's movies it now seems somewhat over-earnest and cheezy in bits. Would recommend.

Unusually strong headline work from the Washington Post

A high-ranking FEMA official who sparked controversy for claiming that millions had voted illegally in the 2016 election and that he once teleported to a Waffle House has gone on leave, officials said. “Teleporting is no fun,” he said. “It was real.” https://wapo.st/3QnPZQD

I enjoyed the jerseys in the South Korean (mugunghwa flower) versus Mexico (stylized obsidian repeating MX detail) game, great to see interesting jerseys with cultural stuff on them.

Really enjoying Widows Bay, mainly because “What if you tried to gentrify Innsmouth?” is the most accurate depiction of the North Shore of Massachusetts possible.

Holding out for Chicago Motel of Style and MLA hotels now.

At Japan’s APA Hotels, the rooms are famously tiny, the amenities surprisingly lavish and the branding unmistakable. Now the family-run chain is betting it can export its uniquely Japanese formula abroad, starting with North America. Read more: bloom.bg/49wo1bJ 📷️: Toru Hanai/Bloomberg
