In D&D 5.5e, I can cast Levitate on myself, allowing me to rise 20' per 6 seconds. That's 200' per minute. If I maintain concentration for its full 10 minutes, I could reach 2000', at which point I would drift gently back to earth. My character is a proficient cartographer. That seems handy.

I've heard and read the word "sidereal" several times over the past few years; specifically in relation to tabletop games. Seems like it's often mispronounced. Every time I've heard it, it sounded like "side real" - 2 sylables. If Webster is to be trusted, it has 4 sylables. "sigh DEER ee uhl"

I think the standard image of a flying monkey is not great. Yeah, it’s fantasy, so fur and feathers are fair. I’d start with a lighter frame, like a woolly monkey. Then I’d add wings more like that of a bat.
