"Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING-absolutely nothing-half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."

My favorite thing about Frazier: endorsements from labor unions, DFL, ect. Also not a partner at Jones Day. So pretty easy choice against the other guy who only has the support of lake-side mansion owners.

Minneapolis is good at rolling out fancy new park infrastructure, but I think St. Paul might be better at set it and forget it until it blends perfectly into the landscape.

The number of Anders Folk signs is really discouraging, do people not realize he is basically the GOP candidate? Or is this just all the Trump voters in Minneapolis exposed?

I haven't been this excited about a World Series since 1991. Presumably the Halloween Blizzard will be sick this year also? I'm not in 1st grade anymore, but I assume they go together.

The NYT article lauding Micheal Bloomberg for giving $80 million to (some) Democrats is so bizarre. He spent 1 billion to scuttle Bernie Sanders' campaign, which is arguably why we find ourselves in this mess.

I don't think there is anything wrong with owning a second hat. When the Twins don't do it, again, I put on my Brewers hat. The excitement of strangers who come up to me "are you from Milwaukee?" makes me wish I was sometimes.

Lots of new businesses and buildings that have been thrown up in Minneapolis' North Loop, remarkable that not one of them is as visually interesting as this last example of a dying breed. The whole area used to look like this. Now it is identical to every other city's enclave for monied elites.

The debate around Waymos and driverless cars in Minneapolis got me thinking about "riderless bikes" and while they may seem overmatched, ultimately it is about who gets who first, isn't it?

When what was once universally known as "The Megamall" was renamed the "Mall of America" people should have realized this type of thing could happen to bodies of water too.

So I was, and still am, upset with Mary Moriarity for not charging Jake Lang for his latest crime spree in Minneapolis. But it is kind of an epic troll that the reason she revealed for not pressing charges is due to his "extensive collaboration and communication with Minneapolis Police."

Three Rivers Park District runs an excellent campground, that is fully connected to the Minneapolis trail system. Do you want to go a dedicated bike-in camp site that costs $11? Beat the traffic? Avoid the crowds in cabin country? Kids love it, they might even ride part way.

The powerpoint slide the feds showed the grand jury to try and pin conspiracy charges on Minneapolis protesters would be a sick tattoo.

Summer is fading fast. Attacking a giant house painting project and listening to every War album in chronological order as a countermeasure.

I think I understand why Anders Folk signs are up in wealthy people's yards. "FOLK" is in the same font as "POLICE" on a blue background. So it is kinda the home security sign for the "back the blue no matter what they do" crowd. Who then complain about their taxes when they have to pay overtime.

I have been pretty tied to a pour-over method over the years, but trying out this 1940s Wear-Ever Drip-O-Later to reduce how much coffee I go through. Something nostalgic about how it tastes, and can make two pots worth using less grounds than one pour-over pot.

Jacob Frey promoting Minneapolis music from his official handle, seems like a lay-up, right? Not if you spell Nicollet wrong in the press release! AI bot mayor.

Letting the kids set up a lemonade stand is the best thing to on a hot day. It gets them outside and worst case scenario they don't make much money and stay crazy hydrated.

Angie Craig is way too far to the right to be a Senator representing Minnesota, and that Arkansas accent kind of grates on me, so maybe a good compromise is she could run for Senator of her home state.

"Because songs will be all they have to remember those of us who could write." The new Odyssey movie has such a powerful anti-ai message.

I don't know who Anders Folk is, but everyone in Minneapolis who had a Don Samuels sign up has a Folk sign now. So now I know which candidate licks boots and will let killer ice agents walk free. Empower the police to act with impunity and rack up my taxes when "settlements" empty city coffers.

Folk is a partner at Jones Day?! That is bad. Can't wait to speak to one of his door-knockers. If experience is any guide, the volunteers are super uninformed when they are working for GOP in sheep clothes.

I hate wildfire smoke as much as everyone else, but all this frantic posting telling people to "not go outside" is making me wonder if other people have some secret source for their indoor air? Doesn't indoor air come from outside?

First the White Castle on East Lake Closed, then West Lake, now University Ave in St. Paul. It's the only fast food I will even eat. This is getting tragic.

"One side longer to preserve continuity" The white noise at the end of side B isn't just silence, because somewhere in that hiss, the first song is playing backwards, even though you can't quite hear it. Every tape its own unique sound.

David Brooks is pretty good and slandering Minneapolis, in this case by glorifying all the ways that Hubert H. Humphrey was terrible, (destroying the Farmer-Labor Party, etc).

I saw some sort of Kia or Hyundai with a BMW logo glued to the back, and vanity plates that read TEMUBMW yesterday, and still think it is hilarious.

I'm going to make two predictions about the Timberwolves that don't give me any pleasure. 1) Anthony Edwards will be gone before long, and he will help another team win the championship. 2) The taxpayers will be asked to build the Timberwoves a new arena.

This Wells Fargo Complex (formerly Honeywell) redevelopment plan in Minneapolis is sketchy as hell. What is the "school" that will be put in there? Somebody is laughing to the bank like "hahaha". Taxpayers going to be on the hook, and area public schools defunding will continue apace.

If anyone hasn't biked the Mesabi Trail yet, or hasn't done it recently, they won't be disappointed. The last missing stretch south of Tower is so newly completed it isn't on any maps yet!

Cool that my pension I was supposed to get is getting handed to Elon Musk instead. I'm sure the retirement age will slowly increase to 70s then 80s and I won't see any of it until I'm too sick or too dead to see any benefit.

MPD announces they are "working with other agencies to arrest violent criminals" this week in Minneapolis. And ICE has been active, so just connecting the dots here. When you are using the exact same words the fascists use, we see who you are.

I've seen MPD training opportunities at every single Michel's infrastructure project in Minneapolis. They can train all day, engine idling, and yet still not beat that level of tetris. So they don't need taxpayers to buy them gun range by an elementary school.

Messing around with paper stencils on a silkscreen, on a bunch of thrifted shirts. Made 11 shirts to give away to friends. Turns out I have a lot of friends so...Cutting another stencil to do a second run!

Tina Smith has been generally less disappointing than Amy Klobuchar as a US senator, so the fact that she took campaign contributions from Palantir is troubling.

Saw a group of teenagers tear through a crisp new 2026 yearbook, trying to be first to spot AI slop and be the most enraged by it. Anyone who thinks AI is the future...you can't hide the truth from youth. Get out the way if you can't lend a hand. AI ain't it.

The word for sailboat and the word for candle start with the same three letters in Spanish. That two things that live or die at the whims of the wind have the same root makes a lot of sense.

ICE didn't have a good time getting traction on frozen sidewalks in Minneapolis, so expecting a good highlight reel of them slipping and falling on freshly waxed airport floors.
