the idea phase is the easiest and least valuable part of professional creativity. read the first draft of the first Star Wars if you doubt me Great art is made in the grinding, often miserable collision between the ethereal substance of an idea and the mud and blood and friction of reality

What could be more Halloween than a BAT? How about a bat colored like a JACK-O-LANTERN? Let's meet the Painted Bat (Kerivoula picta), also called the butterfly bat, native to SE Asia. πŸ¦‡πŸŽƒ (πŸ“·: MerlinTuttle.org)

Every movie, song, and book that you love was made without the technology that people who don’t make art are now insisting is necessary for making art.

i have righted a wrong for this playthrough. tetra no longer loses her melanin when dressed as zelda.

Turns out the friction of having to learn photoshop was a crucial firewall protecting society from the terrible taste of small business owners

When I first heard about AI being used for menus and advertisements, my concern was largely that it would be used to idealize the food and make it look better than it actually was. At no point did I imagine that restaurants would willingly put out horrific looking images of their food on purpose

lmao that's actually so funny?? It's just an app that makes you immediately stupid, incredible

i mean, it's the keyboard's design that was the motivator in the first place, since they decided to place the caps lock indicator at the top of the keyboard, which is always hidden under my desk. so. net zero points for them, i guess

and yet, despite the very high level of polish and technical expertise, the whole game suffers from the MOST atrocious character movement/camera combo of all time. (also some really terrible spelling and grammar errors from the english translation team, but again, it was 2001)

if i actually ever wanted a remake of anything, it would be Dark Cloud. it did so much that was ahead of its time and literally JUST needs some QoL tweaks to fix its most glaring issues, but was forced to ship on disc in 2001. lmao

Aw you need AI to write code or fix bugs for you? You need AI to write for you? You need computer to come up with your ideas? πŸ₯Ί What a shame your skills and knowledge are so woefully lacking that the mediocre output of AI seems good to you.

Doing some work on my next game, just paused and had a moment of thinking "I love doing this." If you use generative AI, not only are you a talentless hack, you're robbing yourself from the joy of the creative process.

every time I feel the need to make my art more palatable I channel my inner bjork

been quiet over the last month or so... during which i have made the uncomfortable realization that i am on the spectrum in a big way. and i'm not sure what it means for me! it explains a lot of things, but just knowing doesn't really solve most of the issues it causes. so i'm just like... now what?

to accept that i'll never be very good at interacting with people despite how hard i've tried over the years is very difficult, especially because so much of a successful career hinges on networking. i just end up feeling awkward, stressed, and VERY burnt out.

i guess the only thing i can do is keep working/processing the situation until i figure something out that works with my brain, instead of trying to twist myself into an impossible shape. until then, thanks for being patient with me. 🩷

again i am just not that interested in debating whether human rights should theoretically extend to robots and ai when we currently don't even extend them to all humans

"Indies will save us" No! YOU WILL SAVE INDIES! Go leave a review for that neat indie game you like, share the trailer for an upcoming game you're anticipating, tell your fave developer they did a good job, go tell people about such and such game that's just come out, you can make a difference!

Re: ATLA! That's reassuring, but omg what an unfortunate situation.

I have no clue why it was on that slide or who put it there, and every member of the crew I worked with is 100% against AI. Every aspect of the animation is handcrafted by real artists and I hope that people don’t use this slide as a reason to detract from how much love and labor went into the film.
