What is true of Platner today was true of Platner a month ago. He is a deeply flawed person who nevertheless is working his ass off and speaking in ways that appeal to Mainiacs (my mom, who was born there, told me I should call them that). Maine voters have been forgotten from this discussion.

I voted. Only 2 issues on the Maine Ballot this year for me, preserving the right to Vote absentee and keeping guns out of the hands of aggressors in recent domestic violence issues. If you want to affect change, you need to vote every year.

Cancelled my subscription. Even if they "reverse" the suspension, I don't see myself ever forgiving such a colossal betrayal of trust. What they did to Jimmy Kimmel was one of the most cowardly acts, and one that at least according to reports, several executives knew was wrong. Unforgivable.

Why #GutterBowl is the best version of #BloodBowl. I have spent a lot of late spring and early summer this year playing Gutter Bowl and commissioning a league. I think Gutter Bowl captures the essence of what makes Blood Bowl great in so many ways. Here are the reasons why I think Gutter Bowl rules.

7) I am part of an 11s league that has played 4 games in the last 3 months. Since I have started the Gutter Bowl league, those same coaches have played 16 matches in 7 weeks. It's easy to stay engaged, and the difficulty not only in scoring, but also in stopping scoring leads to a situation where

ties are the norm, and an outright victory are truly treasured. I am so happy this variant was released, and whether it is truly by design, or just dumb luck, I do believe this is the most balanced way you can play #BloodBowl today.

6) The game is deadly without feeling like certain rosters have a monopoly on damage dealing. The ground gives a +1 roll to armor, which essentially gives every single player mighty blow. This means teams that traditionally want to mark every single opponent have to give thought and care as to

whether or not it's worth the risk of eating a mighty blow block in return. It makes the game seem risky, frantic, and dangerous. The layout of the pitch and the various zones and sidelines make the game difficult to forecast, and this leads to a very fast and chaotic style of play.

It's important to note, the anti-stalling rules in Gutter Bowl provide a new strategy layer, as you want to make some of those greedy blocks and take advantage of those free fouls before storing. It requires planning on both offense and defense to take advantage of the rule adding additional layers.

5) Reroll equivalency. Every team has to pay 100K for a reroll. This puts all teams on the same level. It presents a boon to teams with passing access (via leader), but also levels the playing field for teams (like stunties) that typically have outrageously priced rerolls compared to "normal" teams.

3) Gutter Bowl, unlike 7s, allows you to take up to 5 positionals, ie (non 0-12+ players) where as 7s only allows you to take 4. This helps establish each team as having a real identity in Gutter Bowl as opposed to 7s.

4) Anti-Stalling rules. Stalling is an integral part of the 11s game. The ability to control the ball is often what separates good from great coaches. However, for new players this can be boring. In Gutter Bowl, the very nature of fast halves as well as 7 players on a full length pitch.

2) Stunties have a format where they are on even footing with the other teams in Gutter Bowl. Unlike 7s, there is a line of scrimmage in Gutter Bowl. Stunty teams have at least 2 big guys. That means at least once, normal teams will have to line up on the LOS against Stunty Big guys.

Since everybody has an opinion about Raffy Devers, let me give mine. First, I refuse to give Raffy a pass because ownership fucked up on Betts. This has nothing to do with that any more than extending Pedroia, Varitek, or Ortiz reflect positively on the front office. 1/8

GM asked, even the owner asked twice. Devers acted like a peckerhead each time. So when the opportunity presented itself and the Sox had a chance to dump his contract and pick up prospects, they leapt at the opportunity and rightfully so. He was never asked to do anything beyond the bare 7/8

minimum and he lost his position because *he* didn't take it seriously. Don't think his teammates didn't notice. When somebody says "I saw him get off the plane and was like, 'wow', then I took a nap", that tells you every thing you need to know about Devers. Great hitter, lousy teammate. 8/8

dismissed when the coaches and front office saw the shape Devers was in. The front office went out of their way to cover for Raffy, saying "Well we are afraid you'll get injured", I suspect they'd have been better off telling the truth "Raffy, you need to eat a salad", but the have treated 5/8

Raffy with kid gloves and he rewarded that by acting like a baby when they initially asked him to DH. He eventually agreed to that but then after seeing his teammate's knee explode on a ground out, he decided to be a petulant little bitch about it and refused to play 1B. The manager asked, the 6/8

of a 4 year old believing in Santa Claus. Here's what we know, Devers was and is an abysmal fielding 3rd baseman. The Red Sox needed a bat and in Free Agency, they signed Bregman, a masher that just so happened to play Gold Glove caliber 3rd base. Now maybe Raffy believed he should play 3/8

3rd base for the Sox. How did he show up for Spring Training? At least 30 lbs overweight and looking ready to give the Red Sox the worst fielding season of his career. He did not look like a man that was serious about retaining his job and any thoughts about Bregman playing 2nd base were quickly 4/8

I refuse to believe Devers was promised a lifetime position at 3rd base. That is an absolutely improbable situation, no way Bloom, Henry, anyone in the organization made that guarantee. I believe Raffy may have seen it that way, but to believe that represents a level of credulity akin to that 2/8

One of the things I love about professional football? Intentional tanking is difficult. I was hoping a little, that the Patriots would get the first overall pick. I really can't be mad at the guys playing their hearts out. NFL players work so damn hard.
