For the last 5+ years people have been sharing coastal landscape images with the Global Shorelines Project. I mount exhibitions in aid of marine conservation charities. Maybe send me an image of a coast you love with a sentence of commentary. Some previously posted examples below.

I was only 8 when this happened and still remember it like yesterday. Our first Headmaster in my High School (in London Borough of Redbridge) was from Aberfan and his wife was also a school teacher from there.

Hmmm… who to believe… Andy Burnham or the compulsive liar who got sacked twice for lying, lied to Parliament, lied to The Queen, cheated on two wives and ignored the Ministerial Code. Tricky one.

I asked some friends of mine to do a few lines of my poem ‘Ode To Square Chapel’ in support of my quest to help #SaveSquareChapelArts in Halifax. Without hesitation… they all chipped in. 🙌 It’s what friends are for. Please re-post if you enjoy! x

My American cousin was charged over 40,000 dollars for a treatment my wife received without charge on the NHS. It’s not perfect, but we need to fight like hell to defend it, and make sure it’s properly funded.

Did you know that a Farage Reform govt intends to scrap the NHS? The private health care system he wants to introduce would cost you £10,000s, like the US, where getting ill can bankrupt you. #ReformUK #Labour #GreenParty #Newcastle #SAFC #NUFC

''Ah-Ahhhhhhh-Ah''. Immigrant Song. Led Zeppelin. 1970. What 60’s or 70’s song is living rent-free in your head?

I’m currently feeling, “We all came out to Montreux, on the Lake Geneva shoreline…”. What 60’s or 70’s song is living rent-free in your head?

Excellent letter in The Times. "Greater hate hath no person than to accuse those who put their lives on the line for others of being traitors."

Saw Robert with Saving Grace back in 2024. Wonderful musicians and well worth catching a live gig if you get the chance. They also played a version of Rain Song, which brought back great memories of seeing Zeppelin in the 70s. #SavingGrace #RobertPlant

I’m going for a viewing at #SquareChapelArtsCentre Halifax tomorrow, to see what state it’s in after it fell into darkness. Even if I’m unable to save it (& I’d dearly love to) let’s hope there’s some kindly, art-loving benefactor out there who cares enough about it to do so! 🙏🏻 🤞 🙌

Great line up. Took our American cousin to Harlow Town park for a free Hawkwind gig in 1974 .... it rained there as well. Don't think my US cousin had ever seen anything quite like Hawkwind! Harlow Park had free concerts from 1973-1988, with some great names. www.ukrockfestivals.com/harlow-free-...

This weekend,50 years ago I went to the Reading festival. What an amazing lineup. And what became big bands low down the bill. Only £5.95 for 3 days with camping. Have great memories of it still. Yes in pouring rain with laser light show, Hawkwind and Robin Trower..#ReadingFestival #MusicFestivals

I nominated this for Johnnie's (Walker) Jukebox on his Radio 2 Sounds of the 70's show, and it was put in. Sadly, Johnnie left us in 2024. DYK that Mouldy Old Dough is the only UK number 1 song featuring a mother and son in the band. I remember if from being played a lot in fairgrounds.

Didn’t have the best night’s sleep last night, seems to be a thing of late but at 0212hrs this was and has been my ear worm all day, small positives eh 😉 Great video here youtu.be/O465enGz03w?...

Imagine choosing not to become a billionaire, but instead choosing to support those less fortunate than yourself. Just imagine how loved and admired you would be... not just in your home country, but across the planet. RIP

RIP DOLLY PARTON (1946-2026) I really really liked, admired & respected you. Truly. Godspeed.

When I was learning to play in the early 70's, the three British standouts to try to copy were Baker, Bonham and Paice.

Born 19 August 1939, Ginger Baker, drummer with Cream who had the 1966 UK No.11 single 'I Feel Free'. Baker was also a member of the Graham Bond Organisation, Blind Faith, and Ginger Bakers Airforce and is also known for his numerous associations with World music. #Cream #GingerBaker

When I was writing my Fine Art Degree thesis (46 years back) I wrote questions to several artists in the USA, including Andy Warhol. This little card was the only thing in the envelope I got back, but he famously used aides in 'The Factory'. What do you think, fake or real?

Just found backstage passes for Rod Stewart (Dec 1980) and Bruce Springsteen (May 1981) at the Brighton Centre, where I used to help unload the gig trucks. Should be one for The Who (Feb 1981) somewhere. Thought they were long gone! Get well soon #RodStewart #Springsteen #TheWho #Brighton

I visited Shea Stadium (from the UK), in the early 70's. Apparently, the Beatles played it with 300 watts from their instruments, supplemented by an estimated 700 watts from the house PA system.... all cancelled out by 55k+ screaming fans. I have a 150w amp in my shed!

I remember my mate and I took a crate of beers, drank the beers and then stood on the crate for a better view. Fairport Convention were on first, Chas and Dave and Todd Rundrgren were on the bill (amongst others). Great day. All for £7.50.

11th August 1979, Led Zeppelin played their last ever UK gig when they appeared at Knebworth House. The set list included: The Song Remains The Same, Celebration Day, Black Dog and Nobody's Fault But Mine. What I would have given to have been there! #LedZeppelin

I am currently attempting to write the story of my paternal grandmother Mary Anne, who emigrated from Ireland to New York in 1910 (at 17), and was followed by 4 sisters. She returned to Ireland around 1926 and died in 1936. Does anyone out there have a similar story? #Diaspora #NewYork #Ireland

So I never learn. The Elephant Man (1980) Dir. David Lynch was on TV last night and I start watching it ..... again. By the time Hannah Gordon arrives for tea I am in bits, and then Anne Bancroft arrives and doubles down. Amazing cast, brilliant acting. #DavidLynch #ElephantMan

We live in Suffolk and East Anglia is well worth a visit for anyone interested in archaeology. The internationally famous site of Sutton Hoo is just across the River Deben from Woodbridge. Made even more famous by the 2021 film starring Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes.

My favourite Sam Neil story. In Event Horizon he requested that the Aboriginal flag replace the Union Jack on his uniform’s Australia flag of the future. One of the good guys. Sad news to start the day. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear that Sam Neill has passed suddenly. From Northern Ireland to New Zealand, via Hollywood, he has left such a great body of work. Most importantly, he was by all accounts a lovely bloke. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
