I have never seen Peter Oborne cry before... He points out that the 'settler' [terrorist] activity in eastern Jerusalem and the West Bank has greatly increased in the last 6 mths, with Israeli military support and complicity. 'A massive program of ethnic cleansing.' www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udfc...
If you would like to get a good grasp on what motonormativity is, then I highly recommend this explainer talk by Dr Ian Walker, the guy who invented the term.
We were fortunate to have Prof @ianwalker.bsky.social visit Wellington recently to share his knowledge on #motonormativity and #carDependency with us. m.youtube.com/watch?v=5yQ7...

And please don't respond with anything about Green Party 'procedure'. I do not care. Focussing on such is one reason why many members disengage from the party's democratic process. The reforms being called for should not change the democratic part, but change the access part and way it's put forward
Wonderful series of images showing the natural intimacy and affections males once showed one another before the pathologisation of homosexuality after WWII. I really hope men can get back to being this relaxed in each others company. There are signs of it happening with the younger gen.
We can't know if the men were gay or not. But what we do know is that they would not have thought their poses had anything at all to do with that question. What you see in the photos was common, not rare; the photos are not about sexuality, but intimacy. www.artofmanliness.com/social/frien...

One of the key lessons from Dutch cycling history is cities didn't start with protected lanes. They began by making streets safer, calmer and more inviting; with lower speeds, parking restrictions, traffic filters and reduced through-traffic to create an environment in which cycling could flourish.🧵

And this govt has not lifted a single finger to address this unconscionable situation. It's an indicator of how truly housebroken we are that we allow this.
"In the first 6mths of this year water companies in England failed to report.. more than 50,000 sewage discharges within the legally required time frame" Over 4,000 affected bathing waters. So even if you check its safe just before you go in, you might still be swimming in sh*t

I'm loving all the pearl clutching by the centrists in the Green Party. Hopefully now they will know their place as a minority. The Green Party is the only one with the guts to do the right thing, finally.
Greens for Palestine say their "Zionism is racism" motion has passed at Green conference. This could be a big problem for the party, not least as four of the party's five MPs have spoken out strongly against it, while Zack Polanski has (sort of) endorsed it. Some, not all, Jewish members worried.

With Andy Burnham's speech, the left has unequivocally won the argument - on the rhetoric, at least. The substance is rather more complicated. But this government is more susceptible to popular pressure to go in a more progressive direction than Starmerism. Should embolden us!

They still did the demonising of minorities to blame them for the mess, but it was a two pronged strategy. But this time, there's no strategy to address the economic mess, the fact that capitalism is eating itself. So how will they last when they fail to make a tangible difference in people's lives?
The failure of the Assisted Dying bill in the Lords once again reveals the shame that is 'democracy' in the UK. The establishment and the church are assured just enough power to always keep their finger on the scales, no matter what the people want. Media hides this by pretending we have a democracy

Honestly, if we're having to expend energy on fighting low-hanging fruit like data centres, which should the easiest of red-lines... then we are screwed. Utterly screwed. We ain't winning this.
"The audacity to suggest that turning on diesel generators saves lives because data centres take too much power is ludicrous."
An excellent little insight. It's maddening how we think we can continue imposing linear systems onto circular nature. youtu.be/2WdGvF9zXf8?...
