#FunFactFriday again...and as its Mouldy Cheese Appreciation Day (no, really, look it up!) our short and sweet fact is.... * * * * * In France a pie-chart is often referred to as a camembert, like the cheese πŸ§€

Today for #FunFactFriday we're looking to the past - on this day in 1667 Sir Isaac Newton was elected as a fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge. Now not to be dramatic BUT this appointment saved him from a life of farming and gave him the academic freedom to invent modern mathematics πŸ₯³

Our final nudge to sign up for Developing Fluency with Multiplicative Reasoning at KS3 - the programme that helps to strengthen understanding and confidence in an area of the KS3 maths curriculum fundamental to success in KS4. FIRST SESSION - WEDNESDAY 7TH OCTOBER, sign-up here buff.ly/wqiiwmI

#FunFactFriday The autumnal equinox was Wednesday β€” "equinox" is Latin for "equal night.". However, true equality of day and night happens a bit after the equinox β€” the "equilux" β€” and that's today.

πŸ“’ Universal RISE Offer - South West KS2 Attainment Conference This Thursday, 24th September from 1.30pm to 4pm. An excellent opportunity to hear from colleagues across the region, engage with current research and discuss approaches that are supporting success in English and mathematics.

#FunFactFriday - it's the 9th month of the year and that ties in quite nicely with the magic of Magic of Nine: if you multiply any number by 9, the individual digits of the answer will always add up to a multiple of 9 9 x 7 = 63 then 6 + 3 = 9. Or 9 x 84 = 756, then 7 + 5 + 6 = 18 finally 1 + 8 = 9

Instead of #FunFactFriday, we’re marking Pi Approximation Day! Why? Most of us celebrate Ο€ on March 14 (3/14), but July 22 (22/7) is a famous fractional estimate of pi. Divide 22 by 7 and you get 3.142857…, which is surprisingly close to Ο€ (3.14159…). So there you have it β€” Happy Almost Pi Day!

We're still open and recruitment for ALL these projects is too; βœ” Primary SKTMS βœ” Secondary Work Groups, Programmes and Communities βœ” Post-16 Work Groups, Programmes and the new L3 Communities! Find out more and sign-up on our website; buff.ly/98qc77C

#FunFactFriday Alright we admit it. This has nothing to do with Maths and we are NOT sorry, it's almost the end of the school year 🀣 It is Queen Camilla's birthday today...but it's also actor, singer, and pop-culture icon David "the Hoff" Hasselhoff's birthday. Many happy returns to you both!

As we come to the end of the 2025.26 academic year, we wanted to thank everyone who makes what we do so brilliant - we couldn't do it without you! So whether you've been a participant, you attended our Conference or you're one of our Local Leaders of Mathematics Education - we THANK YOU

It's #FunFactFriday and today we're looking at the Eiffel Tower. Why? Because in hot weather, like now, the tower grows. The tower's usual height is around 330 meters, but on the hottest summer days, thermal expansion adds 12 to 15 centimeters to the height - AMAZING!

Does your school currently participate in one of our Primary Teaching for Mastery Work Groups? Or maybe you used to and want come back? (We'd love to have you!) If you haven't already, complete our Teaching for Mastery Recommital Form, just follow the QR code or visit our website; buff.ly/gSnPgHQ

#FunFactFriday, as we're only three days into July we thought we'd take a look at why July is called July... The month was named by the Roman Senate to honor Julius Caesar. Before then, July actually used to be called Quintilis, being the 5th month of the calendar that started with March.
