I started my new project this week. It felt great to reuse all of the components I made in Sword Princess for this new project. In just a few hours I have a new character, with animations (some new/some old) and a bunch of other stuff like hp and stamina. #screenshotSaturday #indieGameDev

I restarted Sword Princess just over a year ago in Aug '24. I intended the game to take 5-7 yrs. I'm fine with that. But I'm concerned about spending so much time on my first Steam release. So my upcoming plan is to be to clone the project and make a smaller game in 6-8 months. #indiegamedev

Mistakes used to terrify me. I thought they meant I wasnโ€™t cut out for this. But game dev reframed them. Every bug, every bad design choice, every misstep is feedback. Mistakes are part of a guidance system towards the goal. #gamedev #indiedev

I did a trailer for my upcoming visual novel La Fille aux Pommes (The Apple Girl) Hope you like it ๐ŸŽ #vndev #indiedev #oc

I finally got my combat system all worked out for my game. Animations are janky(see the snapping), but that is what I like to call a "future me problem"โ„ข๏ธ But AI is in a working and mostly complete state, I'm excited to move on to some other things now. #screenshotsaturday #indiegamedev

Welcome to v4 of the Blue Sky Game Dev orientation ๐Ÿงต! Let's get you started with the basics of Bluesky, finding other devs, and posting about your games! Btw, this is based on the artist orientation thread from @purlane.ink; make sure to check it out if youโ€™re also on the art side of game dev!

Welcome to the Bluesky artist orientation ๐Ÿงต! This will get you started on the basics of how this network works, how to connect with other artists, and how to get your art seen. If youโ€™re a furry, I also highly recommend checking out @buttplug.engineer's furry orientation thread below:

Okay, had a few bugs, but no worries. A simple pursue script to move toward the player when an enemy sees you shouldn't be any problem! Yay Navmesh! #indiedev #gamedev #screenshotsaturday

Midweek dev limbo. Too tired to build, too stubborn to rest. Might just open the engine and stare at particles for a bit. #gamedev #indiedev #devlife #mood #UE

I know, I know. It's just an elevator, but it was fun to make! Moving parts are always a challenge. #gamedev #indiedev #gamedesign #screenshotsaturday

It took me almost twice the time I had set aside, but I finally got a working character model into the game! Yuna is animating so good. Her hair clips, which I'll fix later with physics. And her weapon is for some reason absolutely titanic in size, but eh, details. #indiedev #screenshotsaturday

Great insights into what an average indie game publishing contract looks like. #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev

Indie game devs! Worried you don't have a good publishing deal? May I present my firm's 2025 Publishing Agreement Data Report! Taken from 100+ actual Publishing Agreements ranging from 2017-2025, providing averages for rev share splits, advances, IP ownership and more! indiegamepublishing.com

I took a break from blender these last couple weeks to write a tool that randomizes walls for me so I can quickly build up the town in the editor. Still kinda messy, but its a nice start. #indiedev #screenshotSaturday

Quote with a game you've replayed multiple times? Sure! Game I've probably replayed the most would be Ocarina of time when I was a kid, but more recent replays are Witcher 3, Elden Ring, and the Arkham series. Just can't get enough.

Quote with a game you've replayed multiple times? Why not? Mortal Shell. I just love revisiting Fallgrim, Eternal Narthex, Gorf, Vlas, Vlas' cat, Genessa, Tiel, Bag Head, Crucix and Tarsus ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’œ Tag a friend? @smoofii.bsky.social @jezzaroddy.bsky.social @cheebicat.com @dragontheorygames.bsky.social

I've gone back and forth a lot on how I feel about implementing player character visuals. Finally decided to do it anyway, and I'm convinced I do like it better. Made some sprites for the feminine iteration of the player character and added them in. #screenshotsaturday #visualnovel

So this week is a somber #ScreenshotSaturday for me. I spent January working on a new character model for Yuna. This week I moved her over to Unity, and her mesh just broke. The gems on her crown are crooked, her eyes are in her head. And her cloths clip bad. ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ’”

So I've been working on Yuna's new look, and I wanted to show some before and after images of her new hair! #screenshotsaturday #Indiedev old one has the white background and new has the grey.

Question for #metroidvania fans. If a game has metroidvania mechanics(i.e. interconnected world, ability gated content etc) and is also a full 3D game; do you still consider it a metroidvania? Like Batman Arkham Asylum or the Metroid Prime series? I don't see many metroidvanias taking this route.
