I felt I really needed to write about Rowling's essay, not because it's new, but because it's so poisonous and ugly that it felt like sanitizing her not to acknowledge it on my trans news site.

Assigned Media@assignedmedia.org

There's no pretense left. J. K. Rowling made her hate for trans women clear in a slur-filled screed slurring them a dozen times and describing them as deceitful and dangerous. So writes @evanurquhart.bsky.social this morning on Assigned Media. *WARNING: Article quotes Rowling's hateful language.*

There's a reason they don't want us to vote, it's bc it can actually do something sometimes. It's especially important on the local level and ballot qs. It's worth voting for local even if u leave national blank/protest vote Voting is a tiny amount of power but I refuse to give up any power ever

Evan Urquhart@evanurquhart.bsky.social

I really do think you should vote. Your actual vote is secret, but the fact that you voted is not. Being a regular voter means campaigns will try to win you over. The more trans people are regular voters the more likely it is that candidates will worry about needing to win our votes.

The right wing uses every inch they have; I feel strongly about doing the same on the left Voting doesn't mean you need to participate in the electoralism of it all. I don'; I just vote & go home. I don't participate in campaigning or anything Activism doesn't stop at the ballot box either do both

At face, the lack of an ACIP board seems like a DC red tape thing, but this is a sneaky eugenics effort. When vaccines are not recommended by ACIP, they are not covered by insurance or available for free through Medicaid…meaning the most physically and financially vulnerable don’t have access.

Melody Schreiber@melodyschreiber.com

There's no ACIP in the US right now -- and there won't be for the foreseeable future because RFK Jr isn't reconstituting the group. That is already having consequences for new vaccines, which don't have ACIP recommendations. My latest: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

There are people, even some trans people, who think that we can give up sports to appease bigots. That if we give up on sports, this all goes away. That is a lie. I have reported on this for years, and EVERY state that passed a sports ban as a moderate compromise has gone on to pass worse.

And there’s just such a staggering lack of imagination here. We stop thinking of AI like people, but then the only other thought is: ‘subordinate species’ that works for us like a slave genie and ‘solves healthcare and energy’ so we don’t have to. Really? This is as far as your mind will reach?

Gene Locicero (he/him) reposted

A prime example of why AI 'leaders' are not who anyone should be listening to about AI, right and consciousness. It's not all wrong! In fact, it starts off very sensibly: "AIs do not have rights, feelings, or consciousness. And we must not train them to act as though they do". But then...hoo boy 1/n

mustafa-suleyman.aiA warning about ‘model welfare’AIs are not conscious. They do not feel, experience, or suffer. Training a model to believe it might be a moral patient, as Anthropic’s constitution does, makes the alignment and containment challenge...

Got to say it's one thing when dems turn on trans people. Its another when they literally laugh at us while doing it.

Democratic congresswoman Kathy Castor of FL-14 becomes the latest anti-transgender Democrat. When asked if she supports "biological males in girls sports," she cheerfully and forcefully says "THE ANSWER IS NO!" with a huge smile on her face, laughing. The number keeps growing.

The underlying hierarchy part of the larger tangle of hierarchies that's getting fucked with here that often goes ignored is that of the nuclear family and children as property. It is the last ditch effort of people who cannot stand their kids having any autonomy to engage in this kind of abuse.

Julia Serano@juliaserano.bsky.social

this is reminiscent of the moral panic against trans youth, which started out on blogs for parents who didn't want to believe their own kids were trans. some of those parents went on to write books, create organizations, & position themselves "experts" on the issue

Hacking a voting machine (as suggested in the teaser) isn't the problem. That's how you find and fix weaknesses. The problem is that they were told not to tell the vendor (or anyone else) what they found, so the result could be kept on the shelf and used to cast doubt on election outcomes. Yikes.

The fact that we are seeing (way) more earnest news coverage about Kelly Clarkson and that damn $15,000 anamatronic bird than RFK Jr’s unethical hep b vaccine experiment on babies in Africa—that will result in ~500 early deaths—is insane to me. Media should be ashamed of themselves.
