Whatever else he is, #farage is first and foremost an old-fashioned rugby clubhouse racist from the ‘pickaninny’ school #reformparty #badenoch #bbcbreakfast

Otto English@ottoenglish.bsky.social

Farage tying himself in angry knots here ... as he refuses to answer the basic question: Is it racist to call Kemi Badenoch a "Nigerian scammer"?

Saw #fatherlandmovie yesterday, and it’s a remarkable film. Not least the cinematography. - every shot could be framed and hung in a gallery

Simply perfect, for me: the fusion of haunting images, acting, the use of music pertaining to Austro-German culture (though the Messiaen organ piece near the beginning is so haunting, a perspective on the time in which the film is set). Private grief and public affirmation of culture so balanced.

The Wizard’s advice scene in Taxi Driver is one of the most deceptively powerful in movie history. Discuss. #taxidrivermovie #greatmoviescenes #travisbickle #existentialphilosophy #classicmovies

The political expression of the organised and collectivised working class, the Labour Party, did next to fuck all to defend trade unions in the Thatcher era

Hegseth on Nidal Hasan: "He's gonna get a firing squad of soldiers. As it should be. We'll make sure that people are able to watch it. That it's public. Because people need to understand that there's serious consequences for these types of things."

With apologies to those who only mean to have a conversation, I have restricted comments and quote posts on this, something which I hardly ever do. Some of the comments were unacceptable, insulting, threatening, typical of the type of "engagement" some Man City fans had perfected on the other site.

"Manchester City is run by, and in the interests of, the United Arab Emirates, a state whose appetite for conflict and violence is matched by its contempt for rules and norms." New op-ed for @josimarfootball.bsky.social by @ncgeehan.bsky.social of reboot.fifa and @fairsqprojects.bsky.social.

You could never accuse the Tories of original thinking when it comes to their policy platform. Tax cuts on inherited, unearned income affecting 5% of the population, but costing £6bn and paid for by welfare cuts and reduced public spending. #tories #badenoch www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Last night’s debacle was yet another reminder that, for all the talk about systems and tactics, we wildly overrate players of limited ability #scotland #pocognoli #sfa #nationsleague #football

Good luck to Pocognoli. Hopefully he’ll create a team that’s positive and brave on the ball. Whatever way you cut it, though, for a country obsessed with the game, the dearth of technically gifted footballers is utterly depressing.

Scottish Football Tonight the Scottish men side continue there first win under new boss Pocognoli. There has been small flashes of good play by Scotland- all being undone by decision making and lack of composure.

🔴 Manchester City is what happens when the rich and powerful believe money trumps any rules or regulations I've written about club football's biggest ever scandal, and interviewed the brilliant @migueldelaney.bsky.social, for Democracy for Sale democracyforsale.substack.com/p/manchester...

democracyforsale.substack.comManchester City: club football's "biggest ever scandal"I spoke to author Miguel Delaney about the UAE, industrial-scale cheating and football's “financial wild west.”

For non-soccer fans: this scandal is basically a microcosm of what is going on everywhere re: the ultra-wealthy doing whatever they want because they can. Man City cheated like hell. But here is the prime minister implying they’re just too valuable to the UK to hold to account. It sucks

I gave up on having any more than a passing interest in the EPL a long time ago, when the mega money from private and state linked wealth started flooding in. Guardiola doesn’t surprise me - he was for long the poster boy for this grotesque state of affairs. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

Just helping with editing here. These bots aren’t sentient. They’re doing what they’re programmed to do. OpenAI, a private company supposedly bound by laws, committed federal crimes.
