I found this specimen inside one of the hides at Carsington 23/02/26. It has been confirmed by gen det as Mompha jurassicella (male). #TeamMoth Obviously an over-wintering individual and another good record ๐Ÿ™‚

A few more confirmed by gen det today: Scrobipalpa artemisiella Gang Mine 02/06/26 (nice to confirm this as I've suspected it for some time), Elachista canapennella from the garden 01/05/26 and Elachista triatomea Gang Mine 31/05/26. ##TeamMoth

This rather faded specimen from Cromford Moor 28/05/2026 has been confirmed as Epinotia tetraquetrana (male). Probably 4th VC57 record? #TeamMoth As suggested by one of our group the preparations are often more beautiful than the moth ๐Ÿ˜ Maybe my photography skills don't help ๐Ÿ˜‰

This one, that I netted back in April on Rose End Meadows, has been determined by gen det as Falseuncaria ruficiliana (3rd VC57 record). I initially thought it was Cochylidia implicitana but ruficiliana certainly fits better on limestone and with Cowslip abundant. #TeamMoth

A few moths to the MV last night in Cromford: Merveille du Jour, Feathered Thorn, Red-green Carpet, Common Marbled Carpet, Epirrita agg, Crocidosema plebejana. #TeamMoth The rather nice Sermylassa halensis beetle on Middleton Moor this afternoon.

Back home now and too cold for the trap last night. The toilet wall at Carsington produced 8 Epirrita agg though, so maybe I should have tried. A big push of Woodpigeon this morning with c20k moving south ๐Ÿค— #TeamMoth #Derbyshirebirds

Only a few more moths added overnight in Hunstanton, from what was a promising start. Fetched the trap in at 0300hr due to rain. Lge YU 2, White-point, Barred Sallow, Red-line Quaker, Least Cpt 2, E postvittana 5, M crocicapitella, E angustea #TeamMoth

After a unseasonaly warm day in Hunstanton (22C) it's already a lot better around the trap tonight. Unfortunately the early cloud has gone, but the wind has eased - LBAM 5, Monopis crocicapitella, Large YU, Least Carpet and Red-line Quaker so far. #TeamMoth

Currently down in Norfolk, where it's been too windy to run the trap really. A single Eudonia angustea saved me from a Wogan on Monday night. Large Wainscot nfy, hiding behind a defibrillator at Titchwell this afternoon. #TeamMoth

A cracking night in Cromford, slightly spoiled by early morning rain. Merveille du Jour 2, Blair's S-k 2, Feathered Thorn all nfy. Black Rustic 5, Angle Shades 3, Turnip, Orange Sallow (escaped), GBC 2, Barred Sallow 7, R-g C 6, PMW 6, Metalampra italica, A sparsana. 66/24 #TeamMoth

42/18 last night, which is decent but I'm still Mervless. Box-tree 12 and Barred Sallow 8 were the most numerous, but Black Rustic, SpruceCarpet 2, PMW 2, SMW, Hypsopygia costalis, C quercana, A sparsana etc #TeamMoth

20/12 on a mild, but largely clear, night in Cromford (22/14 if we're counting larvae). Finally, a Beaded Chestnut too ๐Ÿ˜€. SM Willow 2, Riband Wave 2, GBC, Barred Sallow, Willow Bty, R-g Carpet, Large Yu 3, Les Yu 2, P ruralis, E monodactyla, Box-tree 4. Larvae of S Tiger and C Footman. #TeamMoth

A few moths in to the MV tonight so far: Angle Shades, Copper Underwing agg, 6 Box-tree, S ocellatella, and a small Mother of Pearl that I can see. Temperature is decent and, with a band of rain coming through later, it should stay mild. Good luck to all running tonight. #TeamMoth

Afternoon wander on the Cromford Canal. I thought these on Hart's-Tongue Fern were going to be P verhuella, but looking at one of the larva it appears to be filicivora. A nice 3rd brood Wall butterfly and 9 Red Admiral seen. #TeamMoth #butterflies

A wander up the Cromford end of the Via Gellia this morning whist waiting for the car (new tyres). Several common mines and a single Epinotia tenerana found. A sign showing the work being done to combat Ash die-back. Some interesting videos on the 'Life in the ravines' website. #TeamMoth

46/19 on a ridiculously warm night in the garden. Black Rustic and Barred Sallow 7 both nfy. Also GB Crescent, Riband Wave 2, Red-green Carpet 2, Lesser YU 4 (all looked fresh), A sparsana, C consimilana, Box-tree 9, E angustea 4, S ocellatella 4. #TeamMoth

Wogan banished with 5 moths of 5 species. Dismal record shots in continuous drizzle, and it's still not light at 0730 ๐Ÿ˜’ . A fresh Mother of Pearl (Patania ruralis) was a surprise, along with a much less fresh Small Fan-footed Wave. #TeamMoth

The dearth of autumn moths continues here with a dismal 5/3 ๐Ÿ™„ The only moth of note was this nicely marked Brown-spot Pinion. #TeamMoth Beginning to wonder if a lot of larvae perished in the drought ๐Ÿค”

Just preparing for a few hours in Elm woodland and guess who forgot to charge the battery ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ Garden it is then ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ #TeamMoth Who needs Dusky-lemon Sallow anyway ๐Ÿ˜ช

62/22 last night from the garden. The first Small Mottled Willow for a good while and a cracking capucina type Green Brindled Crescent nfy were the pick. Also Mouse Moth, A Shades, C-s Thorn, D Thorn 3, Lunar U 6, Lt Emerald, A sparsana, A variegana #TeamMoth 700+ Meadow Pipit through Carsi.

Inspired by the brilliant leaf mine knowledge on here I've started to take more of an interest recently (yeah, I know ๐Ÿ˜‰). Bucculatrix frangutella this afternoon was a nice find on Gang Mine. #TeamMoth Small Copper butterfly must be getting late.
