Lula has won Brazil’s presidential election, bringing renewed hope for the Amazon rainforest and the millions of people and species that depend on it 👏🏼👏🏼 Showing up matters. Elections matter!

#ClimateAction of the day: Tell Congress to pass the DISCLOSE Act and end secret election spending! In the 2024 election cycle, outside groups spent a record $4.5 billion on federal races, & super PACs received more than $1 billion from groups and shell companies that did not disclose their donors👇🏼

The DISCLOSE Act of 2026 (S. 3991 / H.R. 7802) would require corporations, super PACs, and other groups that spend more than $10,000 on elections to report that spending quickly and disclose their large donors.

👏🏼👏🏼 Berlin has developed an app where people can adopt and care for trees on the street, getting messages when they need water! When Berlin hit 103.8°F on June 27, 2026, volunteers collectively poured 8,000 liters of water on their adopted trees, helping them survive the extreme heatwave 🌳💚

California just legalized balcony/plug-in solar! 👏🏼 Beginning in 2027, plug-in solar panel kits will be available for renters, apartment dwellers, and anyone who cannot install traditional rooftop solar. Lower bills + cleaner energy = win-win! 🌎

Gov. Newsom just signed AB 1448 into law, blocking new offshore oil and gas leases in California waters and cutting off state infrastructure that would support federal drilling! A big win for California’s waters, coastal communities, and marine wildlife!

AB 1448 will prevent existing state-water pipelines, rigs & related infrastructure from being used to support new federal oil & gas leases 👏🏼👏🏼 The law comes as the Trump administration pushes to reopen California’s coast to new offshore drilling for the first time in more than 40 years.

The legislative branch must step up and exercise their constitutional power of the purse. Tell Congress to make the EPA obey the law and release Solar for All funds: www.climateactionnow.com/social-media...

A federal judge just ruled that the Trump administration’s EPA illegally canceled the $7 billion Solar for All program! This funding was set aside by Congress to help more than 900,000 lower-income Americans access solar energy.

This comes alongside the EPA's broader repeal of power plant carbon standards and a proposal to loosen methane leak rules for hundreds of thousands of oil and gas wells. Decisions that can affect the health of entire communities deserve transparency, accountability, & meaningful public oversight.

Per ProPublica, 180+ facilities have received two-year exemptions from certain Clean Air Act requirements in 2026. Companies could request an exemption by emailing an inbox set up by the EPA. The requests were then forwarded to the White House for a decision. No public comment. No review. Nothing.

Roanoke, Virginia is building solar-plus-battery microgrids for its two high schools, making it the first school district in the state to do so! They're expected to save more than $22 million in electricity costs over 35 years 👏🏼

Under the administration's new interpretation of the ESA, a ship could strike a whale or a company could cut down a tree full of bats, & avoid accountability by saying the animals were not the target. When a loophole lets you destroy animals & habitats, it's not a loophole--it's cruelty, by choice.

To make the overshoot as small and short as possible, the UNEP report points to pathways in which renewables supply 60–70% of global electricity generation by 2030, supported by grid expansion, storage and demand flexibility.

...investments in long-lived, high-emission infrastructure, such as fossil-based power plants, transport systems and industrial facilities can lock us into decades of fossil fuel use, making it harder to change course. The solution? Build #cleanenergy faster.

🚨A federal appeals court just struck down the Trump administration’s order forcing an aging, costly coal plant in Michigan to stay open past its planned retirement. 👏🏼👏🏼 The court ruled the Energy Department overstepped its emergency powers.

Is 1.5C limit dead? Yes Should we be worried? Yes Is all lost? No Will we face extreme impacts? Yes Are fossil fuels responsible? Yes Is the future doomed? No Can we prevent it from getting worse? Yes Are clean energy, strong policies the answer? Yes Does taking action make a difference? 100% Yes.

#ClimateAction of the day: Urge the EPA not to let data center generators skip public review! For years federal rules have guaranteed a public comment period before states issue "minor source" air pollution permits, a category that covers many of the generators now built to power data centers. But👇🏼

Public notice is not red tape. It gives residents a meaningful chance to speak up about development that affects their communities, and it can help identify underestimated emissions or inadequate pollution controls before a permit is issued.

For years federal rules have guaranteed a public comment period before states issue "minor source" air pollution permits, a category that covers many of the generators now built to power data centers. …EPA's new proposal would change that. Under the new proposal, the EPA would let each state, not federal rule, decide whether, when, and how long residents get to weigh in on these permits. That could mean no public comment period at all.
