◦ UK AISI’s role shrank at Anthropic and OpenAI in September. The White House lifted its hold on Oct 11. The labs are becoming more open about who tests them, and what those testers can say publicly is the real story now. 3/4

◦ Gray Swan is named as a tester by four of the five labs. Apollo, Irregular, and UK AISI are each named by three. ◦ Anthropic embedded six METR staff, with no veto over what they publish. At OpenAI, METR and Redwood’s red-team ended in a brief, pre-agreed post with redactions. 2/4

v.2 of Who Tests The Frontier AI Labs is now available: Added METR and Redwood Research's review of OpenAI's Hugging Face incident, plus a few new evaluators (Frontier Design, Trajectory Labs and LatchBio).

I spent a few days reading recent system cards from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Meta, and SpaceXAI to answer one question... who actually tests the labs' models? Here's what's public (v.1). If you know of an engagement I missed, send it my way. #AISafety #AIResearch #FrontierAI

Folks from around the world kept asking about the AI career links on my frontier lab tracker... so I gave them their own page. cleverhack.com/ai-research-... So far I've discovered 81 programs, fellowships, research orgs, and funding routes into frontier AI and AI safety.

cleverhack.comAI Research & AI Safety Programs MapPathways into frontier AI and AI safety research for people outside the usual pipelines: programs, fellowships, residencies, policy tracks, courses, and job boards.

The resource is mostly designed for people coming in from outside the usual academic and lab pipelines, but should also be useful for AI researchers. Each entry lists when applications typically open. I hope this helps!

Vendors continue to update OpenClaw security warnings. And as people get hands on with the tooling, we're seeing daily headlines about unfortunate user outcomes. Hype serves its purpose, but it shouldn't obfuscate reality — even if it’s about the latest in agentic AI.

AI builders, developers, and investors need to possess an understanding of the broader conversation and the risks involved. I hope this resource helps.

Initially, I was merely fascinated by the sheer volume and intensity of security coverage, the tenor of which I honestly haven't seen before in my career. Multiple countries have issued security advisories.

I'm sure I will add more detail to the lab profiles as time goes on, but this is a start. Have suggestions or edits? Let me know.

The ongoing Cambrian explosion of new-to-market AI app builders has been the one trend I've been most surprised by while developing my AI Coding Landscape. It seems as if a new app builder appears on the timeline each day.

The good news? Most governments are trying to balance technological advancement with responsibility. The challenge? Navigating fragmented regulatory requirements. For AI builders: Understanding these frameworks early equals a competitive advantage and works as an incredible market differentiator.

Current policy approaches: 🇪🇺 EU: Comprehensive, detailed frameworks 🇨🇭 CH: A push towards open source, sovereign AI 🇺🇸 US: From the newly-issued federal AI Action Plan to state-by-state legislation 🇨🇳 CN: A focus on strategic cooperation
