To the few Omaha people who might read this: I have so many irises, coneflowers, and day lilies that need to be divided and thinned out. If you want some let me know. Absolutely free - I just love spreading plants around.

Had some good stuff that worked, stuff that didn't. Biggest flaw being the pacing; it just never felt like it was going anywhere. No sense of momentum from one scene to the next. Weapons - another horror movie from a sketch comedy guy - feels like a rollercoaster in comparison.

MinnMax is a great show I've been listening to the past few years and Deconstructeam is a team I've loved since I found their game The Red Strings Club. I can't wait to play their newest one. I am not in game dev but I think this video is relevant to anyone who creates art of any kind. Check it out!

Everyone here is overly familiar with the Nazi bar analogy. If 8 people at the bar are "doing fine" and 2 people are destitute and suffering then you live in a society of destitution and suffering.

Just learned that the guy who made the cover for In The Court of the Crimson King only made one album cover and then died the next year. Wish he could have gone on to paint a bunch more fucked up looking guys.

I accidentally reposted a video my partner sent me on instagram and didn't know until they told me about it. Deleted the account out of shame. I thought I was good with technology but now I am on the same level as my 70 year old father.

yes, the wheels of justice are slow. agonizingly, excruciatingly slow. and oftentimes they miss or go off the tracks entirely. in fact most of the time. but occasionally, very infrequently, that big wheel of justice delivers theoretical remuneration for a handful of vested business interests

I qualify for employment based health insurance for the first time in my life, meaning I can see a doctor for the first time since the 8th grade. That's 16 years of untreated issues to address. Should be happy but I'm mostly just scared.

1) WE said "abolish the police." "Defund" was what YOUR guys came up with to oppose us, it was YOUR slogan. 2) "Defund" went from like 3% support to 40% support in under a year. it was an UNBELIEVABLY good slogan

Favorite 2025 releases: Sinners, Weapons, OBAA, Wake Up Dead Man, Phoenician Scheme Favorite new (to me) films: Shall We Dance, The Red Shoes, Stray Dog, Mulholland Drive, True Stories

Favorite Bong Joon Ho: still Mother but The Host is almost there on rewatch. (was let down a bit by Mickey 17) Favorite Spike Lee: Do the Right Thing by a wide margin, then maybe Girl 6 or Jungle Fever. (went from seeing 0 of his films to 11 in a few months)

Last year I got a library card and started reading books again. Most of them were good and some of them were incredible. I hope to read twice as much next year. My Humble 2025 Reading List:

Been seeing a lot of talk about how cinema is dead especially with the Netflix WB news. All I have to say is I love going to the movies, I love my local theater, I love the patrons and the staff of my local theater, I love seeing brand new movies, I especially love seeing old classics and -

This year I splurged and got a membership to my theater and saw enough movies to make that fee back three times over. They have incredible taste in selecting which movies to play and for which season. If they ever closed down I would be a disaster. Don't give up on The Movies.

Just had my first real nasty scooter accident. Hit a deceptively big pothole I thought I could take and went over the handlebars. A lot of pain in my shin and knees right now. Would be lot worse off if I hadn't been wearing gloves.

The worst part (or maybe the bright side, I haven't decided yet) is that it had to have looked cartoonishly funny to anybody who witnessed. And there were a lot of witnesses. The coffee i brought home from work launched out of my bag and splattered against the back of my head, soaking my hair.

People think that conservative backlash is proof that we should take progressive change slow but actually its the opposite. We need to push through left-wing change at a blistering and impossible-to-keep up with rate the same way the right-wing does their cultural initiatives.

Feels like "payment processor Stripe admits to being an anti LGBTQ hate group" should be an actual headline somewhere.

Dieselbrain@dieselbrain.bsky.social

and to be clear, i was very clear in asking "can i use stripe for purchases of LGBT content" and both times, different operators have told me that Stripe does not support such transactions theyre not even playing the "oh our brand doesnt discriminate!" song and dance

Payment processors like Stripe--and businesses that discriminate against LGBT people in general--rely on most people not knowing about it. They want to have it both ways. Make sure every single person you know who cares even a little knows to pay some other way.

The lineup of movies my local theater has played/will play this year is unbelievably good. Ran, Shall We Dance, Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, Playtime, Do The Right Thing are just a fraction of the ones coming up to be excited for.

"defund the police" was so obviously correct. I really don't care if it doesn't poll well. it's like telling me that I should stop saying I like vaccines if they stopped polling well.

I dunno, frankly insane that we were bullied into silence about a genocide and I don’t think we should be bullied into silence about the same state actors bombing a new population of civilians and starting a major world war
