The macOS built-in curl, git, pip, python3, perl, ruby, and openssl all read /etc/ssl/cert.pem, which still has the emSign root, but they don't check revocation like Apple's Secure Transport libraries. This is, uh, a problem. git and pip especially. I added a short-term workaround to this page.
🚨 Six WebPKI Intermediate CAs are compromised. This is bigger than Heartbleed, but a client-side issue. Anything that verifies certificates against public roots, like most TLS clients, is/was affected. Details, live test, patched versions and workarounds at emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com Act now.
steve novick is such a fucking baby oh my god. develop a politics based on something other than not being in the cool kids club my guy
A handful of registered Democrats vying for seats in local government are backed by donors who have also supported Republicans and Portland conservatives. That’s according to state data collected and presented in a new web project called Who’s Buying PDX.

with bikeportland on indefinite hiatus the Mercury is the only reliable source of news in portland
It’s wild that no other media outlet besides the Mercury is covering the Dan Ryan text saga…like, these lobbyists were calling councilors of color racial epithets. They called me a burrito. Meanwhile there were ten million stories about daddy gate, but crickets on this? Disparity in standards

when the term "third space" was first coined in 1965, shopping malls were just starting to take over america. you could make an argument that the mall killed the third space and now we can't even imagine it anymore
when people talk about the death of third spaces they mostly just seem to mean the mall, a thing that didn't exist for most of US history and also, notably, does still exist even if it's less popular now

I feel so vindicated lmao they're just saying it out loud. Wild that anti-AI and pro-AI people can both go through the exact same process of reasoning and then conclude opposite things. "AI is like cars" so true bestie we should abolish cars too while we're at it.
Someone just reminded me that Huang recently used *this* metaphor to describe AI www.ap.org/news-highlig...

Communism is a scientific discipline and tomorrow's strategy must be an improvement, correction, or refinement of yesterday's. Anything else is america's favorite pastime, anti-intellectualism
this is such a weird take against literacy. "Where Do Correct Ideas Come From" and "On Contradiction" are foundational Marxist essays, you don't have to agree with everything Mao did (and, truly, you shouldn't) to be like "oh this is a helpful explanation of some concepts"

man this is a really bleak lineup here outside of TKL/Morillo. I don't think we're getting a third progressive in d3.
More than 20 candidates are vying for three seats in Portland's City Council District 3 this November. We tracked each candidate in the race to find out who they are, why they're running, and who's backing them.

the kind of person who thinks the moda center is the heart of portland culture lives too far away from the nearest dispensary. truly grow up. that place sucks ass and it's crazy that taxpayer dollars are going to sink into a soulless black hole because officials have no idea what fun is
