Excited for the National-ACT-NZF-TTT coalition 🔺 #nzpol

This post is unavailable.

There’s a weird juxtaposition where UC has free kava on campus from the Uni itself at the same time that UoO has banned kava on its campuses altogether

Regarding the #nzpol Urgency Tracker: The 54th Parliament data is now frozen as a best-estimate. Errors previously raised regarding duplication and hashing issues have been addressed. The final numbers are below, however will be revised once the final sessional journals are made available. 1/1

I currently have someone checking the historical data, as there seems to be issues raised with how that’s been calculated. When this is finished, a more polished comparison of rates and use cases of urgency will be published. This will be a more editorial style. 2/2

New cat moved into the complex and is exploring the neighbourhood I don’t think (s)he knows we can see

The University of Canterbury Students Association petition to parliament to grandfather in Fees Free to current students (many of whom made their decision to go to university based on fees free) closes tonight. I can’t believe I’m actually feeling jealous seeing jafas with their fancy new train network almost here

I could have made you Wellington folk a website that passes basic web standards for a hell of a lot less just an fyi #nzpol

Turns out this was wrong and they never did drop below it…

For the first time in about a year, the %age of bills urgent has dropped below 50%, with an all time peak of 58%. Budget is normally passed urgently, so this may not be true after this week. Source @nzpt.cjs.nz #nzpol #aonz

Although parliament is still sitting for budget related urgency, here are the latest urgency stats (57% OF BILLS URGENT!). If you are curious why the stats are so much higher, keep reading this thread, I have something to admit ⤵️ #nzpol #aonz 🧵 1/x Source: @nzpt.cjs.nz

Turns out that the scraper didn’t correctly handle weird spacings that had happened 18 times this parliament, meaning 8 bills had never been correctly counted (accounting for duplicates). 🧵 3/x

Last night I was told that the new urgent bills weren’t counted correctly. Today I have explored and I found that not only had the parliamentary service made a change that broke my tool (again), I had been undercounting for months. 🧵 2/x

I’m sure today’s budget will fix this as operating expenditures are expected to increase despite cuts

Happy Budget Day Urgency will be used to pass the budget as with every other year - this is normal

NZPT Changes 27 May: Finances shows donations in order. Urgency historical page now shows parties in government instead of prime minster.

Urgency Tracker: Again the urgency tracker has decided to stop working. Here’s the current plan: - A patch for the urgency tracker should be out today, with the tracker returning to normal from next sitting day. - A new tool is in the works that tracks the Hansard for more than just urgency. 1/x

It has been a week and the Parliamentary Service have reformatted the way their sites work again. This is getting suspiciously repetitively coincidental.

Since NZPT first went public, small changes to the Parliament website have rendered many civic-tech applications useless. I’ve written a blog post about this in order to air my frustrations and concerns, and I’m sharing here in case anyone is curious. #AoNZ #NZPol #NZPT

I don’t normally write blog posts so excuse the poor writing, but I feel it is an important enough issue to share. Feel free to share this, or provide feedback, and if anyone knows someone at the Parliamentary Service who may have answers, please reach out #nzpol

#nzpol it’s been a long two working days but I’m sure they’ll get back to me soon…

I didn’t include in the blog post, but I first raised this issue to the Parliamentary Services on January 5th and have not had any acknowledgment since. It seems despite their website saying two business days, they just ignore the email.

nzpt.cjs.nz/finances I have expanded on the @nzpt.cjs.nz site to have live party donation information. See the totals, top donors, and it’s live + easily shareable This site is still rolling out and will be fully integrated with the rest of NZPT in the coming days. Feedback welcome! #nzpol #AoNZ

My first time using community services concession with Motu Moves Very efficient paired with Apple’s Transit mode. Will drain my MetroCard and then switch over I think. #motumoves

Anyone from #auckland here? Can you explain to me how this works… I’m from Christchurch so my fare is $1.50 no matter where I go, but I have definitely never heard of on-the-spot legal fines from bus drivers before? #nz
