Look, bring your iced coffee or any other beverage to the interview, just don't use the penis-shaped crazy straw from the bachelorette party and you're good.

Kai Ryssdal@kairyssdal.bsky.social

I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

Oh sheeran!

Ed Sheeran's concert has been delayed from 5:30pm to 8pm because he is playing solo, and many who couldn't get rid of their tickets are planning to stage a Palestine protest during it. Should make very entertaining viewing in 3-4 hours when it kicks off in Philadelphia.

Summed up beautifully.

One of the strongest defenses the US has against the excesses & malicious stupidity of its own ruling class is the cultural tendency to hide one's own economic struggles because they have successfully painted economic struggles as an indicator of personal failings and weakness.

Mitch McConnell has lived quite a life... In his lifetime he has certainly seen with his own eyes - A Satanic Circle from the inside of a goat mask - The devil appear in flames - What a baby's face looks like when stealing it's candy - A real life Mogwai trapped in a cage - The American Civil War

I never thought Macklemore would stand up like a hero. Or any of the other people who've stood up, like that Spiderman guy. It truly seems like real heroes haven’t been the tough guys, haven’t been the wealthy or famous, haven’t been whomever society thinks of as heroes.

It continues to be the little people, the unusual people, people who have real things to lose, but stand up anyway. Hollywood needs to be revamped to reflect that more.

Thinking of either is much easier than the doing.

Thinking of politics as “defeat the enemy” is easy and energizing. Thinking of politics as “working together even if we disagree about some big things” is hard and exhausting.

The laughing tho... deeply disturbing.

This looks like the force of a nuclear bomb. What the F*CK is wrong with the world allowing this to happen?? Are we really going to keep sitting by as they decimate everything and LAUGH? Are we going to keep allowing sociopaths to go free?! This is INSANE.

Data centers are almost too perfect as the flipside of AI. Don’t like how the computers are taking jobs, creating a surveillance state, eroding privacy, enabling the theft of entire creative industries? Wait’ll I tell you about the massive complexes they’re operating out of!

Trump’s fervent support for AI data centers has put him at odds with voters who increasingly oppose them and comes despite direct warnings that his stance threatens to deepen Republicans’ peril in the November midterm elections. bloom.bg/3UCQsjB

The Concord Housing and Redevelopment Authority installed Minut Monitor sensors in tenants' homes, recording their movements and noise levels and threatened them with eviction if they refused. We're suing. We shouldn't have to choose between having a place to live and 24/7 government surveillance.

Given rising interest in the rapidly strengthening El Niño event in the tropical Pacific Ocean, I've created a one-page fact sheet succinctly describing what El Niño is, this year's (remarkable) forecast, and potential impacts from California to global scales. [Thread]

Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: A chief technology officer is worried about keeping his spreadsheets private.

So, now you can put bounties on things like tattooing things on your forehead, setting cars on fire, and quitting your job on stream. These are just the tip of the iceberg to the long list of humiliation rituals that people are putting up to laugh at other's misery. Maybe this shouldn't exist?

Where by making emissions a problem of the many, we skew the responbility for the problem away from the few. Climate is an inequality problem as much as it is a chemistry problem because it is the inequality that prevents solutions and locks in fossil fuel path dependence.
