The fetishization of humiliation/emotional pain, in itself is understandable... but is ridiculous to tie to some sort of "sanctity" or "privilege" in a relationship. Though it's also reasonable for a couple that's been together a long time to be drawn to the idea of doing something sexually "wrong"
