URGENT APPEAL, with the impending incarceration of little Tommy Ten Names this Christmas, Mud are looking for a new co-singer for special appearances this festive season. All applications considered.

#NowPlaying - Rite Bastard Newly reisshed to beat the scalpers, I missed this at the time. I liked the original Rite but had two of the tracks already, Rite2 was a bit too synth ambient for my tastes but the urgent Miles meets W.Germany grooves of this and Rite At Ya really massage the theta waves

We record tomorrow. If you have thought on FNM’s The Real Thing, get them to us by noon tomorrow. Thanks! ironmaidenpubquiz@gmail.com

Absolutely, usually involving actual songs too. I also regularly dream of hearing music by existing artists but the music is completely original. I once invented an entirely new posthumous Psychick TV album which @andrewmale.bsky.social had recommended here (in the dream). All completely hypnagogic

Who else has dreamed of artists that don't exist? I once dreamed that someone asked me what music I liked and I said I had been 'listening to a lot of Mossy Lamoo recently'

A Childhood's End by Arthur C Clarke. Rewritten for the 21st Century As Karellen's vast interstellar ship approached Earth's orbit he peered once again into his viewscreen, his face one of perplexed horror. Switching off the display he sighed, "Fuck it, turn around, leave the daft cunts to it" Fin

I have large(ish) sideburns but I'm totally crap at trimming them and always make an uneven bollocks job. However I've realised, because I don't go out that often I can just shave them completely until a week before I have a night or day out. Hey presto, the've grown to the perfect thickness!

Foundation stone for Alfred Waterhouse's Manchester Town Hall was laid on this day 1868. Took almost 10 years to erect at a cost approaching £1m, described as ‘unequalled for size, completeness and adaptability for its purpose among the municipal buildings of Europe’.

Never mind how many hours of our lives we spend asleep, on the toilet or stuck in traffic jams. I wonder what the proportion of my time on this mortal coil is that I waste trying to convince my phone that it is perfectly upright despite its stubborn insistence on switching to landscape?

1967. The Who's first NYC show at The Village Theatre, with Richie Havens & The Blues Project also on the bill. Steve Katz of The Blues Project went on to co-found Blood, Sweat & Tears, before moving in production & then the 'business' end of the industry

The very first British punk single to be released was released on 22 October 1976; "New Rose" by The Damned. It was recorded at Pathway Studios in London, recorded in 1 day, according to drummer Rat Scabies. On the B side was a speeded up version of the Beatles "Help". #TheDamned

Today's teatime tunes: none of yer Maharishi mumbo-jumbo for these San Fran garage punkers on this fuzz-heavy, bitingly satiric, spiritual bubble-bursting track from '66. None of them were called William Penn, of course.
