It's a homemade chicken noodle soup kinda night. Smoked whole chickens yesterday so easy 2nd nite meal...

Finally mounted a new hearth powered tablet in the kitchen and tossed the Google nest in the ewaste bin. If you're a "local apps" type home lab user (mealie, home assistant, music assistant, frigate etc) check it out: hearth-home.io

On the chance that McDonalds is the drive through option that wins I hate how they play a prerecorded "what can I get you" then open the mic line so I can hear the one person who is back there working talking to the other line. I've been fooled into talking to no one too often. #pettyproblems

South Dakota in the fall means corn pits and every single communicable illness possible.

Excited to get some time over the weekend to work on Galaxy Twin, a modern interpretation of Darius Twin from my youth with a SNES. It's going to have a banger soundtrack like the OG and awesome artwork thanks to some friends. I'll post more as the storyline gets written!

It's been a long week of doing a lot of things I never thought I would have to do after my 42 year old sister died very unexpectedly. She left a husband and 9 children, which means a lot of bills for him. If you're so inclined to make a strangers life a bit easier: www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-...

The whole Open Home Foundation team is in Lisbon on Wednesday, Sept 23, and so is the community 🎉 Come celebrate the open home with the people who build it, and everyone who runs one at home. Free, 7pm, Impact Hub Lisbon. Just a few spaces left 👇

@home-assistant.io is almost ready to replace Google Home devices for voice access, one thing I wanted was a custom wake word, so I asked AI to help me out, and it spit out a Docker setup that takes in a wake word and trains a model (GPU-accelerated even!) Now to test!

Am I missing something, is there a really great piece of hardware and software for multi-room audio all plumbed to one place? I'm using Home Asisstant/Music Assistant/Plex for the library and playing management... PUtting speakers in ceilings as we rennovate, wired to a single point.

Please enjoy this early week timeline cleanse of Sir Frankie of the 2nd Floor, King of Margarets Room. (Peasants can just call him Frankie)

#bird the turkey's don't want to miss out when the squirrels dump the feeder on the deck. Only one female came up to visit but the whole group was down on the ground waiting for a summary of treats available.

Jammed my finger up pretty good at Volleyball, but the ankle twist was just falling down the stairs. #oldpeopleproblems

I mean, I think P.R. has nicely asked to be a state, not sure we should get so tunnel visioned on Canada before we do that... Seems like we'd have more ammo for the whole gulf of America thing, no? /Satire

This will actually solve another problem we have: automations to display cameras out of Frigate when a doorbell rings or someone approaches just plain SUCK with google nest hubs as the targets. Hopefully we get more flexibility doing it this way.

TL;DR: Please make a screen-having device with the audio processing power of HA Voice preview plus a fully functional HA display with support for custom screen savers (for ImmichFrame!).

To jump start the process I've picked up a thinksmart android teleconfrence tablet with hopes to meet our needs with HA App for dashboards/cameras/Hey Nabu and immich frame screen saver for the photos. AFAIK wake words aren't supported on android app, but hopefully some day.

Sadly that doesn't replace the Google nest hub devices we have sprinkled throughout, only the google nest mini's. For the kids room it'd be fine: those are mini's restricted to music and announcements. Basically all the strengths of HAVoice. Bonus points for the 3.5mm jack so we can do better audio

Wife leaves to have a day at her moms w/kids and expects me to get a lot done but asks how my "Day off" was. I love her, but it's never a day off: I will always either get a lot done or procrastinate doing dumb things until I don't get anything done instead of just relaxing and having fun.
