“If it was just me and a guitar, you never would have heard of me. So when I look in their faces and I can tell they’re thinking what I used to think, where you look up at a band and you think, Wow, that guy is so fucking cool..."

"...Where if you were a guitar player, you’d wanna be that guitar player; if you were a drummer you’d wanna be that drummer. Or at least you’d think, oh, that makes me wanna get onstage.” Chrissie via Arthur Mag, 2008 -CHHQ

Hi all! I don’t know where you are at the moment, but here in the U.K. it’s a lovely time of year. The leaves are turning and it’s cooled off after the insane heat waves all across Europe... XCH

...through “Brass in Pocket” and two bandmates dead within a year, to a survival nobody expected. Drawing on the diaries of her longtime tour manager, extensive new interviews with Hynde alongside family, old friends, and the musicians she's influenced...

Chrissie Hynde has spent nearly five decades making music, and a life, on her own terms. PRETENDERS follows her from Akron, Ohio and the Kent State campus, to the London punk scene that finally gave her a band of her own...

This Week in 2019, Chrissie released her studio album 'Valve Bone Woe', a covers album recorded with the Valve Bone Woe ensemble. Also including 'I'm A Fool To Want You' which she performed last year in session for BBC Radio 2. -CHHQ

Hi All! Look at this cool picture of a guy and his dog I saw paddling along the Grand Union Canal in London. A dog really is a man’s best friend, I think we all agree. I’m sending this as a reminder to anyone thinking of rescuing a dog from an animal shelter.

Stop thinking about it and go to your nearest shelter. There’s also hundreds of cats who need homes. There may not be a lot we can do to fix the climate or divisive political culture, but we can save a life. Yours and the dog’s. Stay Oaken! XCH

Oops! Someone just accused me of being grumpy. Be that the case I sincerely apologise.. No grumpiness intended. I always bear in mind what Martin Amis said in Experience: ( his memoir in case you don’t know to that which I refer) …..his father told him:

“ it’s our duty to be cheerful" (I maybe paraphrase so I might’ve got that slightly wrong. I’ll dig out the book and reread it for clarity..) Meanwhile, have a nice day and don’t forget, It’s our duty to be cheerful! Hugs, kisses, best wishes, handshakes, pats on the back, Yours, XCH

Hi All, Suddenly, I seem to be getting a lot of messages signed: ‘Hugs’ Maybe I was wrong. Maybe everyone really does need a hug. That was probably mean spirited of me and so I would like to now say, ‘Have a nice day… Hugs’

Question: When did everyone get so touchy-feely? It seems like a new thing where people sign their emails: “Hugs” Hate to be a spoil sport, but I’m wondering if there’s anyone else out there who isn’t huggy. Surely, it’s not just me.

Has this come from the therapy culture? The Grammy culture? Over-sharing? I guess we’re like dogs. Some are Lone wolves (me) and others are lap dogs who like a lot of pampering (hugs)

( btw …I’m not confusing touchy-feely-huggy people with out-and- out sexy beasts. Two totally different things). Oh, and the other one… signing an email with: “Stay safe” Seriously? OK well that’s my thought for the day. XCH

"There's one girl in particular I keep thinking about. She's been with us for over eight months now, watching other cats come and go while she waits for her turn."

"Our team adores him and gives her everything he needs, but I think you'll understand what I mean when I say a cattery, however loving, was never meant to be a home. She deserves a sofa to curl up on and a person of her own."

"...It's been a real tough few months, with abandonments rising sharply, and heartbreakingly, we're just not getting enough applications, especially for our adult cats."
