music dork, movie nerd, tv junkie, gaming goofus...opinions mine, unfortunately. For work I spend lots of time surveying public opinion on all kinds of stuff. Also: St. Louis Cardinals, Blues, and Mizzou. Actively shopping for a Prem side to cheer for.

I think the Steelers just got called for an unnecessary roughness penalty where said roughness was one Steeler lineman hitting/landing on the Steelers' ball carrier....

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

Two-fer errand run today. Voted...and then stopped by the Bottle Shop on Chippewa to pick up the first case of Celebration Ale of the year.

Whereas posthumous releases often carry an eeriness in their finality, Elephant 6’s experimental daydreamers have chosen to bring piñatas to this going away party. The Olivia Tremor Control’s long-awaited third album is as contemplative as it is celebratory.

The two-decades-in-the-making new (and definitely final) by the Olivia Tremor Control album is just a glorious, imaginative, beautiful, noisy spectacle. It is the band's much-needed third act that their first two albums needed as a closer. It feels like the final book in a planned trilogy. 1/

...and while I was worried that I'd feel sad listening to it, given the two mainstay creative forces in the band never lived to see it come out...there's just so much joy in it that "sad" never enters the equation. Bill and Will may be stardust now, but I'm so glad they left this behind for us. 2/

I have *so many questions* about a team assessing a situation to which they thought that *sleeping* could be deemed to be more dangerous than playing NFL tackle fucking football.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season after several blood clots were revealed in his lungs. Before the London game, Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am and did not sleep because sleep was a risk. He played the game without having slept. Crazy.

Because it bears noting: 1. Fox's pollster is very good 2. This is not a poll of Fox news consumers. It's genpop. 3. "Corruption in government" is incredibly ambiguous and cuts both directions. I'd want to have a much more specific goal for that question to include it, myself.

Remarkable outcome in Fox News' latest poll: 88% of U.S. voters say they are extremely or very concerned about corruption in government, beating every other issue including inflation www.foxnews.com/politics/fox...

That Fallon performance is from last week. And at about 55 seconds in when the song opens up, you can hear the live studio audience of normies who likely have never heard of Westside Cowboy just erupt with that "Oh. OH!" moment of realization.

And it just feels like you'd need to be a supervillain to root against them. They're just four pretty, fresh-faced kids who look far younger than their actual post-uni years, a group of nerdy introverts just absolutely kicking ass on their own terms and seemingly having a blast doing that.

There will be a time between tomorrow and Black Monday when Dan Quinn will be called into the Commanders front office. And the last play of that game with the Giants will be playing on a looping GIF on a laptop screen facing the door he walks through and is asked to close behind him.

Dunno whether Mizzou can hold on here or not, but Austin Simmons has an arm that the Tigers haven't seen since...ever? I mean, maybe Chase Daniel, but he might have more of a rocket than CD10. Also can't remember the Tigers ever starting a lefty QB before. So that's kind of neat to watch.

The ripples off of the Man City case could impact all other sports as well. I realize there are lots of sports fans here in the States who don't follow the Prem, but this might be the biggest sports story in years and years.

Reading the QuarterToThree forum discussion on "Backrooms" is making me feel like I'm reading an entire forum thread with a bunch of Bosley Crowthers discussing "Bonnie & Clyde".

The haters said Mizzou couldn't get it done in the hostile environment at Mississippi State last night. And the haters were correct. Honestly, great call by the haters.

Last night in MLS play, entering the 64th minute Sporting KC led the resurgent Philadelphia Union 3-nil. By the conclusion of the 73rd minute, Union were beating SKC 4-3. That's....something.

I cannot be the only person thinking of 2004, when a #19 ranked Missouri team (with Brad Smith!) played at what was then called Troy State on a nationally televised Thursday night ESPN game and got a pretty good beating. Just sayin'...

And I also believed that SS directed only one TV movie, but apparently he actually directed THREE. I have no idea what Something Evil is, or what Savage is. But I think I might wanna at least see 'em. We'll see.

I've technically seen 22 of these 39 movies. But I maybe only have meaningful memories of about a dozen. Like, I last saw ET more than 30 years ago. I've seen Munich, Minority Report, Crystal Skull once, and remember almost nothing.

And then there's stuff like The Color Purple and 1941, two movies I saw in the theater exactly once and kinda bounced off for different reasons. But I'm not 12 or 16 years old now. Maybe I'll find something worthwhile in either/both?

HT and @stlcitysc.com has a commanding 3-1 lead already. A half that you could go on and on about the positives. - Both DPs signed this window have 1g/1a in Navarro & Holse w/Holse having a hand in all 3 goals - The 3-3-4 in possession from Damet is working. #AllForCITY

To their (dubious) credit, the 8th Circuit did tell Hoskins this morning that he IS subject to the call to appear before the Missouri Supreme Court and show cause that he's not in contempt. Basically "My dude, you are wildly misinterpreting that judge's TRO from Tuesday. Sorry."
