Billionaires and charter school lobbies have spent more than $5.2 million on the Chicago school board race, more than $2.8 million in the last two weeks alone. So we built thebillionaireboard.com to help track how much is spent and which candidates are supported by charter schools and billionaires.

Ok finished birds & rabbit, let wildflowers grow, then thought: "corner's empty". So in lieu of birds, added a spider who's just finished eating and going to rest. Not sure if I over did it πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ oh well! I think I'll call this series *Urbs Circumdata In Horto* ‡️ #invertebrates #Arachtober

I brought the painting back out to work on it and finish it. I decided to include a couple little barn swallows flying through the prairie above the wildflowers. πŸͺΆ #SciArt #BirdArt #Animalllustration #WildlifeIllustration

I'm in the middle of painting a scene from Chicago's bird sanctuary in #acrylics #WIP with a 🐝 on a 🌻. I'm looking through my photos and deciding on birds. Chicagoans: What #Chicago birds should I include?

I came randomly across an image of an African Gemsbok (Oryx) and sketched it, not knowing that it's now a resident of several SW states (NM | TX) and can be hunted because of uncontrolled population! I had no idea this was happening!!! 🀯

Accidental Macro Monday Photography! I took a pic of the flower and there was a tiny spider that I didn't see until after I got home to check my photos! Also, I took pics of some other flowers and there seemed to be a Varroa destructor on one. Does anyone know if it is, in fact, a bee mite? #SciArt

It's a Glass Octopus (Vitreledonella richardi), one of my fave cephalopods. They're rare, live in the deep ocean and are spectacular. I decided to sketch one! It's done by hand in blue mechanical pencil lead and Koo-i-Noor colored pencils, a q tip & alcohol! #WorldOctopusDay #GlassOctopus

Chicago: Bike the Drive and other concepts for cyclists & pedestrians all began in Colombia in the 1970s. In BogotΓ‘ we do this every Sunday! It's called CiclovΓa and I wish we did this in Chicago every Sunday during sunny months. #BikeTheDrive #Chicago #BogotΓ‘ #Colombia #OpenStreets

I don't do quizzes, but as a polyglot I couldn't resist. Grew up in Chicago, lived over a decade in Orlando and almost a decade in Tokyo hanging out with Brits, then back again to Chicago. Coupled with film buffery & tv buffoonery and apparently I'm very Chicago and half Southern Cali.

It started off as Utah (??) then NV. Suddenly LA and San Francisco burned red for a while and it showed 1.LA, 2.SanFran, 3.Chi (stayed there until 3 questions I skipped til the end: El (L) for the train, "the city" means Chicago & the curds question). After answering the 3, Milwaukee became #1 lol :

There was a very tiny spider πŸ•·οΈ eating a very tiny flying bug πŸͺ² on one of my windows. They couldn't have been more than two or three centimeters in length. I couldn't focus on them, so I drew them instead 🎨 Process video πŸŽ₯ below πŸ‘‡

A #dragonfly in the process of eating an #insect. I heard him crunching it up. The final two shows him looking around for another meal. Watching him hunt is happiness for me. 🐞 #invertebrate
