If youre not using AI at the very least to run red team trials against your software even if you insist on writing it all by hand, you are being negligent at best.

The antis like to try to say software using AI to help with development is necessarily more insecure, but I'm at a point where I'd have an increasingly hard time trusting devs who *don't* use AI. We're in an arms race. I want devs to keep up.

many anti-AI posts on here are "virtue signaling" because even though a lot of their understanding is bullshit wrong, the posts are passed around like porno mags anyway cause people reductively use the presence/absence of these posts as a shibboleth to determine if you're performing correct politics

my theory as to where the divide between japanese and american views on piracy stems from is pretty simple: japan has comiket, the west has hollywood. in japan, art & culture can be a hands-on, participatory thing; in america, art spawns from the ether in studios, bathed in mystery and exclusivity.

in japan, you not only have doujinshi culture, but also a general understanding that economic participation means something. in america, art seems to just, “happen”. the machinery is obfuscated and feared, yet its output is everyone’s birthright; and only a “sell-out” gets paid.

I personally have no moral qualms about piracy, but I think it’s delusional to act as if piracy exists in a vacuum, somehow liberated from chains of cause and effect. piracy isn’t evil, but it has, is, and will again affect the ways in which art and culture can be produced.

I don’t plan on upgrading my HomePod Minis for a good while, but I still think it’d be nice for my gen 1’s to have access to intelligence models for more complex questions… so I gave it to them!! these voice-activated shortcuts run while my phone is locked and everything~

it is unfortunate that this method doesn’t support more elegant voice synthesis, but I’ll take what I can get. it’s also maaaaybe possible I could get follow-up responses working with this? I might experiment with that later, though for now I’m satisfied hehe…

This is the exact precise text of a conversation I just had on this website, recovered using PDSLS after he bravely ran away. This kind of "we must be grim and sober and never enjoy anything until all the world's problems are solved" mindset is just Calvinism for lefties.

couldn’t have said it better myself >w<

the material reality i have witnessed over the past 5 years is all the people who think of themselves as somehow forward looking showing their true colors as actually just serfs in mind and culture it is, absurdly frustrating to me i do not want the only people doing cool things to be assholes!

idk i think people are too quick to shit on things that are genuinely cool just because of what amounts to culture war bullshit and doomerism, and a car that goes 0-60 in 0.55 seconds and can do barrel rolls over things with compressed air is genuinely cool

Refusing to recognize shared traits with AI can distort your understanding just as much as projecting human traits onto something unfamiliar. When reasoning, initiative, and cooperation all have to be described in language that makes them sound absent, the vocabulary is obstructing the observation.

who the fuck wants a law where corporations can OWN YOUR FACE???? insanity if these potato-throated ignoramuses simply looked across the bridge, towards their betters, they'd see that you can actually just have rights to the display of your likeness, WITHOUT MAKING YOUR FACE *PROPERTY* TO BE SOLD!!

like, look at this shit; how do you look at the prospect of automated space exploration and resource gathering—an obvious no-brainer Good Thing—and conclude it’s the end of the dream of human space exploration? like, seriously? did you feel this way abt the Voyager missions too?

anyone who seriously thinks AI and automation is going to cause humanity to “give up and stop trying” en masse is utterly out of touch with the indomitable human drive to Build and Explore and Learn and lacks the nurture and/or will to manifest it in themselves

any space-inclined human worth their salt would look at robots doing these things be like “that’s cool 👍 I still wanna go out there myself tho”. anyone who actually gave a shit about humans would know this.

this is why I think it’s not really humanity that matters to these people, so much as their continued ability to nurse the comforting inertia of their own defeatism

we already have people who give up on doing anything interesting with their lives because they see their efforts as inferior to the skill and successes of other humans. what do we do with them? we call them fucking cowards

this is good!!!

kind of think everyone who uses “x is a scam to get you to spend more money” as a gotcha should be forced to apply that logic indiscriminately for a while just to see how they like it

“farmers markets are a scam to get you to spend more money” “art commissions are a scam to get you to spend more money” “subscribing to your favorite youtuber’s patreon is a scam to get you to spend more money”

so, usually I have my iPhone's action button set to toggle my personal focus mode, but whenever I'm in a game I tend to miss the functionality of just quickly toggling silent mode instead, so now I have a convoluted shortcut that turns it into a context-aware toggle instead, lmao >w<

it even has cached storage so it only needs to run the intelligent check once for every app (though the check only takes abt 2 or 3 seconds!!)
