While most people fall uncomplicatedly in categories male or female, some people don't, and whatever initial assessment or "assignment" they receive absolutely should be reconsidered, and reconsidered on their own terms. This does not even touch on gender expression.

This is a fact I draw on when I hear talk of holding people to what they were "assigned" at birth. Record-keeping is an important part of what we humans do, but the papers should follow, not lead our understanding.

The specific error, several days, of my case was mostly trivial, of consequence mostly to astrologers.

and arrived just in time to agree that the birth had gone well. Paperwork was not done until a following visit to the doctors office, That day's date was entered, oops. The mistake was not noticed for several months.

What strikes me about the correction form, first, it is a pre-printed form: corrections were expected. Second, there are spaces for FIVE different items to be corrected: LOTS of corrections were expected.
