The world is grateful for the service of Pope Francis. He urged us to be kind and welcoming to refugees, to end the death penalty, and to accept LGBTQ+ individuals as children of god. He was a leader for peace around the world. I am saddened by his passing. Thank you Francis.

The reason we don’t run the federal government like a business is because it would allow the president to get rid of anyone who didn’t agree with him like he is doing now. We need subject matter experts and dedicated professionals to manage the government. Not cronies and bootlickers.

If egg prices spiked because flocks had to be euthanized due to bird flu, then the only way to reduce egg prices is to wait for new flocks to hatch and grow to maturity (this takes 6-18 months) or to stop testing laying hens for bird flu. I wonder which path the Trump administration took?

With all the federal workers that have been terminated, do we have any way of determining the demographic makeup of this group? Early on there were intimations that the first firings were predominantly women and people of color, the disabled, and veterans.

You wanna fix social security? Do these two thing: 1. Repay the $ trillions Congress has “borrowed” from the fund. 2. Eliminate the cap. Right now, if you earn $150,000 in a year, you pay $9000. If you make $259,000,000 you also pay $9000. That can be fixed.

WRTthe deportation of alleged gang members, the question is so clear that anyone with a 7th grade education can interpret it. Are we 1) at war with Venezuela? OR 2) Have we been invaded by the army of the government of Venezuela? The answer is no to both. The Alien Enemies Act does not apply.

So the administration invades and ransacks government offices. Then courts order that they put it all back. They may or may not do that. We will see. Is anybody worried about whatever cookies they are leaving behind? Will Musk or Putin have back door access to our computers or hidden surveillance?

I just heard that our local chapter of The League of Women Voters has been banned by Facebook.

The law isn’t stopping Trump and DOGE. The courts are ordering they stop and they refuse. Congress has abdicated its responsibility. Protests have yet to be effective in encouraging the administration to follow the law. It appears we are almost at the end of the democracy playbook. What is next?

Let’s be clear, the Supreme Court caused this mayhem in the Citizens United decision. I can’t believe anyone thinks that having one person give a quarter billion dollars to a presidential candidate is good for America. That the person is a post apartheid South African racist is even more disturbing.

You wanna talk about waste and fraud? Someone should calculate the cost of putting thousands of federal employees on paid administrative leave, to adjudicate all these crazy lawsuits and to give back pay to reinstated workers when their firings are ultimately deemed illegal.

Ukraine deserves full reparations from Russia. They should make NO CONCESSIONS.

Trump has succeeded in uniting the right and left political wings. To be clear, that’s in France where the leaders of both sides issued addresses condemning Trump treatment of Zelensky a stopping military aid to Ukraine.

I know I don’t need to say this here, but Social Security is an insurance program. Benefits are based on the amount of premiums paid over the course of one’s working career. You can’t just decide not to pay those benefits now that the bill is big.

It’s no coincidence that all these GSA lease terminations are in deeply blue cities and states.

The only way out of this mess is to impeach the president who is clearly afraid to stand up to our enemy. Putin has something big on him. Even Trump is not stupid enough to intentionally destroy our democracy.

End oil and gas subsidies if you want to save money. Cancel the stupid trip to mars to save another $50 billion or so. End development of the ill fated F-35 and save a few trillion yes, with a T. Cutting 10% of the federal workforce is chump change.

Workers everywhere get their orders from their bosses. Not a tweet from someone outside their management structure. This is ridiculous.

And don’t forget, Ukraine had everything it needed to deter and defend against Russia. We PROMISED that we would defend them if they would just let us have their nuclear weapons. Apparently our promises mean nothing. Dems need to remind Americans that we made a deal. We need to live up to our word.

The implication has been, and we don’t know the final answer, that understaffing in the Reagan National control tower is in part responsible for the crash last month. Does it then make sense to turn right around and fire several hundred air traffic controllers?

I feel like massive protests and phone calls to elected officials in my state (Maryland) does little. What is the best way to express to republicans my disgust and shame over their cowardice? Even protesting in DC does little as the cowards don’t appear. Only the Dems engage and they are already in.

I don’t understand. Why do government employees from whom Musk demands resignation comply? Now SSA Commissioner? Make him fire you. Resist. Be a hero. Don’t just lay down before the tyrant. These people make way for those who will salute.

This can’t be true, can it? It seems like he is picking the least appropriate nominee for each post. An IRS director who has no training or experience in accounting and didn’t finish college. HHS director who is not a doctor. A wrestling exec for education. It would be comical if it weren’t true.
