If someone sees a remarkable photo that you took and says "you must have a really nice camera", take that as a compliment. In fact, take everything as a compliment. They probably meant it that way, and if they didn't, taking it as a compliment will drive them nuts. 馃槃

A lot of photographers take umbrage to the notion that the gear is the artist, but often I find that particular remark is common for people that want to skip to the technical part of the equation.

They aren't necessarily implying they could get the same result. Anyway, often times the gear is pivotal to increasing the probability of getting a good image, or it's professional reliability you're after. Explain why you chose your gear and how it helps you!

When children ask "stupid" questions, it is out of genuine curiosity to emerge from a state of expected ignorance. When an adult asks a rhetorical question they wish to troll you for their own amusement, or hope to confirm a state of mutual willful ignorance.

A cursory search of social media posts reveals a rather callous attitude by many who have routinely received flash-flood warnings by cellphone in the past. To be taken seriously, warnings need to be location specific, and reach tourists and campers who are more likely to be in harms way.

Talking about gobs of 150yo's receiving Social Secuirty and transgender mice in the #sotu is an unacceptable display of willful ignorance (or just plain ignorance) on the part of everyone in Trumps immediate circle (yes, including Musk).

Considering your own personal expertise, if at any point Trump has not displayed some horrifically inexcusable misunderstanding of facts or processes... I would love to know what you do/did for a living or what interests you find fulfillment in.

What I got right (only so far) was that human ego, greed, narrow-mindedness, and good old-fashioned willful ignorance will remain humanities' greatest obstacles for the foreseen future.

Fine Striped Sweat Bee (Agapostemon subtilior) showing off its Labiomaxillary Complex... the long tongue that allows it to forage deep for nectar. Shown here on the flower of a Bermuda Buttercup (Oxalis pes-caprae).

I don't know what really drives Elon Musk, but I would love to see an MRI of his brain when he cuts off food and medicine from those suffering the most. Is it a calculation, or is it a dopamine hit?

You are up to date.
